My size G has been lost so I thought I would replace it with one from this relatively inexpensive set of 3 Boye hooks. Unfortunately these hooks are not the same quality as the old ones. Boyes are now made in China and the lower quality of the machining and shows. Yes, you can crochet with them. However, there is definitely a difference in the way they move through the yarn. The hook itself is not quite as deep as that of the old Boye hooks; the tapered portion of the shaft is shorter; and the poor finish on the surface is reflected in the way they cling to the yarn rather than easily sliding through it. If you enjoy yard sales, you might want to keep an eye out for the old hooks. By the way, I see on the product site that there is now a newer product available. Not having seen that product I cannot say whether the quality has improved, but I do see that the price is almost triple that which I paid for this junk. As they say, buyer beware.2always boye!Boye hooks are always top quality. I use them to create custom clay crochet hooks and I've never been disappointed with boye!
