They work fine for me!After a few years of on-and-off hobby music recording, using either amplifier software or a guitar amp head with a line out to record guitar parts, I decided to try recording with microphones. I recently designed, 3D printed, and built my own speaker cabinets and want to record them.Again, I'm a on-and-off hobbyist, I'm by no means a professional or even experienced in this field of music tech. But for my means, connecting my Scarlett 2i4 to two instrument mics, these cables are working fantastically with no issues at all.Due to the combined rust of not playing guitar much and not using my DAW lately, I've yet to record anything that won't make listeners grimace, but listening to my guitar tone through my monitors, I'm liking the tone I'm getting and as far as my ears can tell, these cables aren't negatively affecting my tone in any way.So while I can't speak for the reliability/clarity of these cables from a professional point of view, as a home studio hobbyist these work fine for me, and their price makes them accessible to folks that may want to try mic recording but don't want to spend a lot on the essentials without compromising quality.5Broken after 3 monthsProduct worked well first 2 months. It was used sparingly at home just for fun. 3 months later, it completely stopped working. Have 2 of the same and they both stopped working. The attachment to the mic end became too loose. It was a huge disappointment.1Microphone Cable, 20 FeetGreat Cable,, and good quality5Not Bad, If You're CarefulThese cables work fine for a permanent installation or for occasional use. I use these in a church setting between D.I.s and a snake, and they are never disconnected and hardly ever moved. For this application, they work just fine. I don't know if I would count on them in higher stress situations for very long. The cable is thinner than what you find on most XLR cables. I didn't say they were thinner gauge than other cables, because it looks and feels to me as though the jacket is actually thinner than most, and that the conductors may possibly be similar gauge. I don't know if that's actually the case, but it's just a guess on my part. The connectors have a bit more play when plugged in on either end, and they just feel kind of cheap. The biggest issue, to me, is the strain relief. The strain relief appears as though it is made for cables of a standard thickness, while the actual cable is thinner, as mentioned earlier. The fit between the strain relief and the cable is not tight enough, and I wouldn't be surprised to have cables fail because they get pulled out of the connector if used in a standard application. If that happened, I'd probably end up throwing the cable away, instead of trying to repair them like I do with other cables. The actual cable would be too thin to use with other connectors, and I don't think the connectors are of high enough quality to be used to repair other cables. Essentially, they are disposable, which is reflected in the price.Even with these issues, they earned a four-star rating from me. That is because they actually deserve it in MY application, given the reasonable pricing. I compared these to several other more expensive cables to see how quiet they were. I turned up the volume on our system and hooked the cables up, one by one, to an empty channel on the board with all the other channels muted. The noise from these cables was surprisingly average, with them louder than some, and quieter than others.I can recommend these for low-stress applications like mine, or maybe for people who take very good care of their gear. There will be no wrapping these around your arm to pack them up, unless you feel like replacing them. Take the time to coil them.If these sound like they will match your needs, give them a shot. The price is right.4It slipped out of the microphone easily. I still gave it 5 stars because it ...Quick delivery and product is as advertised. This doesn't have the ability to lock to the microphone or amplifier. I ended up purchasing another one and giving this one away. It slipped out of the microphone easily. I still gave it 5 stars because it wasn't advertised to have the locks. My fault5The wiring is plain and simple (this is a good thing), I put some super glue into the ...This is a cheap, 20ft cable. I can tell this wont last long. Music major with band experience, I also have been hosting an open mic for 5 years now. I've had to replace a lot of equipment due to 'user error'. And many cables connectors have the same issue this one has. Tiny cheap metal screws that are short, to hold the entire structure together. The wiring is plain and simple (this is a good thing), I put some super glue into the structure to help keep it together over the long haul. I wont be surprised if I have to buy a replacement immediately after any and all factory/manufacturer/amazon warranties expire. If you are in a pinch for $$, like I was when I made this purchase. You wont be disappointed at the $ to quality value of this product. It is hard to find a better price for this length anywhere online. I'm sure a 2nd hand store or music store going out of business would have it cheaper and better made, but those are hard to find. As music stores are going the way of specialized product support, as places like Amazon and musicians friend take over their business.Cheap and likely, Chinese made.3High quality cable with enough length to work withHave two of these, one running from my BM32 condenser mic to my Behrenger phantom power box, and from phantom power to my Scarlet Solo input processor. The quality of the materials used are pretty close to my OEM Shure mic cable. The length is wonderful, plenty to work with. Holds shape when wound without need for a cable wrap. Not too heavy and not too light in weight. Does not feel cheap. I will most definitely buy more of these again.5Better of the two budget XLR cords***UPDATE***This cord has unexpectedly failed after 3 years of very light indoor studio use. The one I compared it to was the Pyle, and it is still working. I don't know if this is because it got used more or not, but considering how light my usage was I did decide to knock a star off - primarily because the other XLR cords I got all still work and they are also inexpensive. Not trying to be too hard on the little guy, I know I can't expect much for $5, but hey when your competition is doing better than you, that means you have room to grow. It was a bit sudden, I actually thought it was my mic or soundboard so I was very pleased when I discovered it was just the XLR cord that had gone out. There was no warning, and it didn't seem to matter the amount of twisting I tried to do to get static or anything out of it. This was with a phantom powered mic tho, so maybe with a passive mic I would have gotten some static or something.***END***I got this XLR cord along with a second one that was similarly priced. I didn't know which to get, needed 2, and figured I would take the opportunity to figure out which is better. The other cord I got was the Pyle PPFMXLR15 15 Feet XLR Male to XLR Female Microphone Cable. This cord is longer, and the cord and connectors seem to be more durable and stout. I also have noticed it seems to stay latched in better than the Pyle cord.Overall this cord in every way was a better cord, but it's still a budget XLR cord. The ends don't look serviceable if they develop a short/open, and the cord isn't quite as thick or lay as flat as my expensive cords. That's to be expected though. This works exceptionally well for booming which is why I got it.4Flimsy, shallow screwsThis cable lost a screw after only a few months of light use. The screws are very short and fall out easily, evidently. The cable entirely stopped functioning once it lost the screw. The cord itself is sturdy, but the parts that connect the plugs to the cable are just sort of thick plastic. You should spend the extra few bucks for a higher quality cable like a Shure brand cable.1Loose connection, not worth the troubleI bought a few XLR cables for my church. I works fine if the cables are stationary and strapped securely to a mic stand. It means these cables don't work well if you plan to connect to a mic that singers will pick up and move around with it. Loose connection resulted in "poppy" noises when singer move around with it. I attempted to fix one of the cables and found the connector quality is just not there. Connection to mic is just loose. I ended up buying a few more expensive ones (~$20) from AUDIO TECHNICA AT8314-25 Premium Cable for the mic for singers. I recommend people to spend a little bit more for the cable and be happy for a long time.Pro: very inexpensiveCon: loose connection, low quality.2
