A 24" Cord? Are you kidding!?This is going to be short:The controller may be modeled after the classic genesis controller, however, it is NOT the original. It is actually significantly smaller. All of the buttons are extremely loose in the controller. This thing rattles like it's dying. The BIGGEST problem with this thing (it's almost ironic to say that) is the cord. It's literally 24 inches long, two feet. I ordered this because I purchased a Sega Genesis Classic console made by At Games. It came with a pair or wireless controllers that were OK, but I wanted something wired. It works, ok. You just have to use the menu button on the console.Again, the cord is two feet long. You might want to consider an alternative if you're looking for an inexpensive, off-brand Genesis compatible controller.1Cheap knock-offs... but that's actually just what I was looking forI ordered two of these. As other reviewers have said, these are indeed cheap imitations of the authentic Genesis/Megadrive 6-button controllers. Build quality is definitely subpar. The buttons are both loose feeling and mushy, and the d-pad is not crisp and precise either. I definitely wouldn't play a fast-paced competitive fighting game on them. The connectors also didn't fit into the ports on the Genesis quite as well as original first-party Sega controllers, or higher-end third-party controllers. They were a tad snug. However, with all of that being said, that's exactly what I expected when I ordered them. They're brand-new, they're cheap, and they're fully-functional. I still own and use two original Sega controllers for myself, but I had a friend with an old working Model 1 Genesis and no controllers. If you're rough on a controller, or if you want/need want the best quality controllers, look elsewhere. If you just need something cheap that works, these fit the bill.3Very cheaply made, But Works! As kind of expected from both the price & other's reviews, this controller comes nowhere close to matching the original Genesis controllers. The thing feels really flimsy and not solid (both buttons and case), the buttons themselves have quite a bit of play in too. It's also missing the mode button.Taking it apart was easy, and from the inside it appears the mode is on the internal pcb, just wasn't included as a button in the controller design. Also, the wires themselves are lightly soldered and then coated with glue to keep adhered to the board, so I'm sure this thing wasn't built to last long.Overall, all the buttons on the controller do seem to work fine and it does function, and it's working good with my intended use, which was to modify it into a Bluetooth controller for use with Windows/Android Genesis emulators. So if you need a really cheap Genesis controller then this may suite your application.2Light weight, seem flimsy but they WORK!!!!!The controller itself is light weight and seems cheap, but I've bought four altogether and only one has broken. I play NBA Jam among other games, but I'm 260lbs and mash the buttons hard, so for 5 bucks and some change I didn't really expect to get gold that would never break. The other 3 controllers seems to be working fine and so I m thinking it could have just been an rare event (gotta realize you can buy a Ferrari and still have problems) so I like these a lot. They are cheap in cost and they allow me to play my Sega once again. So overall I m happy with these. (NOTE: I did NoT try and return the item or contact the seller, I figured that only one broke and it was probably my fault, so i place no blame on them, the controllers came fast and in working condition.) I would buy more controllers from this seller and suggest it to other people looking for a cheap controller that will allow to you enjoy the games that will always be awesome. So its very light weight but works for what its made for, and priced nicely for what you get.4BEWARE THE SELLER AFUNTA, THEY SELL USED AND BROKEN CONTROLLERS, NOT NEWI purchased the Sega Genesis controller from the seller Afunta who had listed the controller as New, but the controller I received was USED and half the buttons didn't work when it arrived. The controller appeared to have some age and had been heavily used, not damaged by shipping. After a minute of light use, no lie, a minute, the d-pad became stuck making the controller unusable. The seller contacted me asking me to take down my negative review about them and then they would send me two new controllers and kept denying that they would sell a used controller. I had considered the offer thinking that maybe I just got a mix up, but after I removed my negative review the seller told me it would take 15 days to send me the two new controllers, which I thought was ridiculous since I had received my first controller in two days with my Amazon Prime membership. I asked to have the controllers shipped in two days and the seller replied to just return my first controller for a refund through Amazon since I might just get the same kind of controllers (which in my case would be used and broken). So either I just got a bad controller, which I highly doubt now, or this seller is really shady and falsely advertising new Sega Genesis controllers.1You need to track down an originalLets be clear. Every off brand Sega Genesis controller I have ever used has been crap. This controller is no exception. However, this controller is less crappy than most off brand controllers. The cable is short. Very short. You will need an extension. The buttons are mushy. They do not stick, but it feel like you are playing with a controller made out of play-doe. Your gaming will suffer. The dpad is loose and sloppy. Good luck having precise movement. It feels light and cheap, because it is.Save you money and find a used original controller. I know they cost 3 to 4 times as much, but you will get a true gaming experience.2You get what you pay for!Remember the adage: "You get what you pay for." That is true for this controller. For the price you pay, you get the following:- A controller that connects snug to the Genesis port.- A controller that is effective in playing the games. Responsiveness is decent. You also get a controller that also has the following characteristics:- A controller that feels cheap price you pay. Lightweight plastic and loose buttons. It is a bit odd to barely feel the weight of the controller in your hand.- Short wire. You'll need the Genesis beside you.3-star rating because quality expectation met the price point of $6.I would buy again. I got what I expected. I can play my old Genesis again or let my kids discover it for the first time. Happy playing!3not reliable - had to return straight out of box.Did not work - only 1 button worked out of six. The controller felt cheap, thought the D-Pad worked fine, but without buttons it doesn't matter. Even after reading the reviews of other customers stating the same, I still went cheap and paid for it. For another $5, get the option below and know you'll have a working controller.http://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-Genesis-GN6-Wired-Controller-Sega/dp/B00HM3QAWK/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1422628095&sr=1-1&keywords=Hyperkin+Genesis+%22GN6%22+Wired+Controller&pebp=1422628096908&peasin=B00HM3QAWK1Awful piece of electronicsFirst off, construction is super shoddy. The X button was not seated properly in it's well, rendering it non-functional. This required taking the controller apart to adjust the button. Second, the controller is poorly designed. I suppose it's small size might be nice for smaller hands but the controller is comically tiny compared to the orginal. The buttons move and rattle far too much and the d-pad is simply terrible. This controller isn't appropriate for any game that requires precision. Finally, I have 4 games for my genesis: Shadowrun, Shining Force 1, Shining Force 2 and Streets of Rage 2. The controller was functional for all them except Shining Force 2. I would press start at the title screen and the controller would suddenly start sending random inputs for a few seconds before becoming completely non-functional. I ended up purchasing a pre-owned orginal pad that worked fine for the game. I can't imagine how many other games are incompatible with this awful controller. Don't buy it for any price.1Cheap... But fixablePlease read the update below as well.Well, the controller I received was not the one in the picture. The d-pad doesn't register well when I try to go up or left. I probably could fix it by opening the controller to beef up the contacts. If you are will to pay 5$ more, then buy the real controller used. You have a better chance of getting a good used controller than a good knock off. The biggest downside to this controller is that I could used that 5$ toward getting a real controller. The buttons on this controller were decent and the plug fit well in the wii adapter I bought. I don't have a real genesis.UPDATE. I fixed the d- pad problem with scotch tape. It was so simple to fix that a really can't complain. Still not the original but close enough... By the way if anyone was looking at getting this for the wii 4-in-1 retro adapter, here is a news flash. It DOESN'T work with 6 button controllers, so if that is the reason you are getting this, don't bother. And don't bother getting a first party six button either because it just doesn't work with that adapter. Only A, B, and C work with the retro 4-in-1 adapter, so find a 3 button controller, 1st party or not.4
