Not worthy of the movieFirst off, most of the reviews on here aren't even reviews at all; they're questions asking people to tell them what song was playing in such-and-such scene. People really need to take those questions to a message board. Second, five of the songs on this soundtrack aren't even featured in the movie. But after listening to it, I wondered if that decision was a bad thing after all because as great as the movie Coach Carter was, the soundtrack doesn't do it justice.By looking at many of the artists on here, it might make some people want to leave the album in the store. There are a lot of unimpressive joints, like the 1995 sound of Mack 10 and Da Hood's "Balla" and CzarNok's corny rhymes on "Beauty Queen". And Fabolous falls victim to yet another Mase comparison with the trite "No Need For Conversation", mainly because the music doesn't sound much different from "Breathe, Stretch, Shake".Chingy sounds wack as usual on the wrongfully titled "Professional", but the thing is that he still sounds better than his accompanying crew, G.I.B. (the Get It Boys). Speaking of wack crews, the St. Lunatics also appear on this album (sans Nelly) to deliver "Time", and the third verse contains one of the weakest similes I have ever heard: "I'm on point like a guard". Another lyrical faux pas is when Red Caf says his style is "butter like Parkay" on "All Night Long". Parkay is margarine, not butter.Trey Songz also sounds misguided on the bling-blingin' style of "About Da Game"; I really think he should stick to ballads. There's also the odd pairing of the Game and Lil Scrappy on "Southside", and Scrappy's not even rapping; he's just talking at the end of the song, but Game doesn't exactly save the song, either. And Twista and Faith Evans' obligatory we-are-the-world song "Hope" doesn't help or hurt the album. All these shortcomings make it hard to enjoy good songs like Van Hunt's "Your Love (Is the Greatest Drug I've Ever Known)". And although I'm not sure who LeToya or Ak'Sent are, the ladies do a good job singing and rhyming on "What Love Can Do" and "This One", respectively, making me look forward to when they release albums (the liner notes state that all the featured artists' albums would be coming out before the end of 2005, but most of them didn't). And that's not really a horrible thing in the end. Don't think twice about picking up the movie Coach Carter, but let the soundtrack be.Anthony Rupert3Van Hunt's single #8I purchased because of Van Hunt's contribution to the soundtrack. He sings with a certain vulnerability that is soft and transparent. His electric guitar contributions softly add lightness to the song. This is a classic.3Coach Carter soundtrackI bought this cd for one song and that was Van Hunt's "Your Love." The rest is all hip hop/rap music, that I probably will not listen too but I gave it a five because it is a good movie and I love the one song that I wanted it for. :)5Great movie. Bad Soundtrack. This is the entire list of songs from the "Coach Carter" movie. There may be some oversights. But it's far more accurate than the track listing on the sound track.Great movie. Bad Soundtrack. Music is an integral part of many movies. I find it so disappointing when the tracks you heard in the movie are not included on the soundtrack.I sympathise with legalities of trying to pull all the labels and artists together. But as the consumer, it just plain sucks. All My Peoples, Invisible MenAll Night Long, Red CafeBooty Skaker, Carmen CarterCan you Feel the BeatCan't Turn You Loose, Otis ReddingChanges, 2PacComin' From Where I'm From, Anthony HamiltonCoolie Dance Rhythm, Cordel 'Scatta' BurrellDance Sucka T-RayEnjoy the Show, Erin ThompkinsEverybody Got Their Something, Nikka CostaGet Low, Lil Jon & The East Side BoyzHalftime (Stand Up & Get Crunk), Ying Yang TwinsHeadsprung, LL Cool JHope [Featuring Faith Evans], TwistaI Changed My Name, Keyshia Cole, Kanye WestI Like That, HoustonIn the Air Tonight, NonpointLately, TyreseLet me Prove my love to you, The Main IngredientLet the Drummer Kick, Citizen CopeLocked Up, AkonLost Ones, Lauryn HillMove Ya Body (Radio Edit), Nina SkyNo Need for Conversation [Featuring Mike Shorey], FabolousOff the Wall, Ali TheodoreOh Boy, Francci RichardProfessional [Featuring GIB], ChingyRead Your Mind, AvantRoll Wit You, CiaraSame Team, No Games, Gang StarrShe Wants To Move, N*E*R*DShutup, Black Eyed PeasSouthside [Featuring Lil Scrappy], The GameThis One, Ak'sentTime, St LunaticsTruth or Dare, N*E*R*DUntouchable [Drag-On, Infa-Red, Sheek Louch & Syleena Johnson], DMXVasilon, ManganaWhy I Love You (Radio Edit), ShellsYou Don't Know My Name, Alicia KeysYour Love (is the greatest drug I've ever known), Van Hunt1Title should be some songs from the movie, not the SoundtrackThe movie had more than 30 songs in it. The CD has about one-half that amount and omits many of the best songs. Also, I have searched, played the movie in slow mode and checked out nearly every song listed in the credits but I cannot find the song that plays at the end through the beginning of the credits. No one seems to know. Can someone please tell me what it is and where to find it? It has a whistle in in it and one chorus keeps talking about "here we come to get you". Very much appreciate anyone that can demonstrate their genius by telling me the name of the song and/or the artist. Many thanks.2Yo i need helpcan anyone tell me the name of the song that plays when sam jackson is standing in the gym thinkin about whats goin on at the end of the lockout its right before timo cruz's cousin gets shot, please i need to find out i love that song its the one where there just like this --- retaliation, identification, motivation, basically all the words that end in "tion" please if anyone knows what song this is post a review and tell me what it is. the soundtrack is good besides the fact that it doesnt have most of the songs you'll hear in the movie, but music really pumps you up. thanks to whoever can tell me who sings the song im looking for and the title4The song where Coach Carter is in the gym aloneLet the Drummer Kick by Citizen CopeThe song plays when coach Carter is in the gym by himself looking at his name on the banner at Richmond High. I love this song, and I searched all the songs on the Coach Carter soundtrack, but couldn't find it. I don't like how it doesn't have it on there, because almost everyone I've talked to seems to be missing it. I searched a forum and found the title of the song. I hope this helps some people finding the song.5Good movie, not the best soundtrackIs it just me, or were their songs that were missing on the soundtrack? True, a few of em cam eout b4 the movie debuted. For instance, when they were running suicides outside, they placed a track from Ying Yang twins feat. Swizz beats, another is one from N.E.R.D. So the ST could've been atleast 17 tracks.2A really great soundtrackThis is a great soundtrack to a great movie. I love all the songs on here. They are hip, funky, cool and I can listen to this all the time without getting bored. The only reason it lost a star, is because it didn't feature Locked Up by Akon and also I would have thought they'd put an Ashanti song on here considering she was in the movie. Other than those being missed out, I love this cd.4For the misguided.....Some people apparantly have no appreciation of how movie advertising works. The trailer song is not part of the actual movie soundtrack. Most of the time, when trailers are put out, the film HAS no music yet, so an appropriate piece is put into the trailer. And there is ALWAYS a song list of the back of the CD; I would recommend checking that out before you buy.As the Soundtrack stands, it is a respectable album of appropriate tunes suitable for the urban atmosphere of the film. A good sampler disc for these artists, but true fans will probably own the original albums these songs come from, so for them, there is no use for this CD.Above Average for this particular genre where pop compilations are usually thrown together3
