Customer Reviews

Best sanded pick on the marketThe only pick I use anymore. Perfectly sanded for rythmn players who don't want to toss their pick and finish the songs with their fingertips. I've been using Cool pics for years now leading worship in churches. I give them out once in a while to other guitarists who also love them. Just the best pick out there... not too sandy, not too abrasive, and not at all slippery. I wear these things out!The only negative is how stupidly expensive these picks are by comparison to 99% of picks in general, but it's something that I'll live with.4A great balance between flexability and grip!My favorite.Seems like nobody makes a truly light gauge guitar pick anymore. This Juratex pick with the blue logo has a micro-rough surface that will give you a positive grip, even when held lightly. This, combined with a crisp, lightweight flex which will also be stiff enough to crank out some power when you bear down on it- makes for a very useful guitar tool.I like the light color, too, as it makes finding them on a dark stage a lot easier. Buy 'em in bulk because not all guitar stores carry them!5Good picks with one caveatOne complaint I've long had with most picks is that they provide very poor grip. I used to buy regular Fender mediums and score them with an Xacto knife to make them easier to hold onto. These picks solve that problem with a sandpaper-like surface that no one is going to slip out of. However, there is one downside to these picks that needs mentioning: If you are in the habit of sliding your pick between the strings when you are not playing, keep in mind that with these picks you'll be effectively sandpapering the strings every time you slip the pick in or out. You'll probably only do it once though it's a terrible sound. They are very stiff .8 mm picks (which I happen to prefer). One of may favorite picks.4I've wanted something like this for years!I always preferred acetal polymer picks like this, but hated the texture. I typically have either quality issues or grip issues with more well-known brands. Then, I happened to see these Cool picks at the local music store and immediately fell in love! I bought a couple of heavy picks there (only size they had) and came straight home and ordered a package of mediums from Amazon. The picks are good quality, nice and flat, no sharp corners on the edges. The .80mm thickness of the mediums is exactly what I like. And the grip! I wish I knew of these sooner. I finally found my perfect pick!5... much more expensive than other picks but I do like them quite a bitI wish these weren't so much more expensive than other picks but I do like them quite a bit, both for their grip feature and mostly for the snappy tone they provide. I only knew about these because I bought one out of a mixed bin at a local shop a couple years ago and instantly fell in love with it over any other pick I've ever used in the 35 years I've been playing. I looked everywhere and can't find a local shop who stocks them though so I guess the supply/demand curve will dictate that I must pay more for these for the time being.4GOOD SOUND ON STRINGS AND NO SLIPPAGEI've used dozens of pick types over the years (54 of them) and I have to say these are my favorites. I know sound and tone can be a very subjective thing, but for my taste I think they give a good mellow tone along with maintaining a good balance on voume. So far they are holding up very well and without a lot of bumps and such and stay where they're suppose to - between my index finger and thumb without spinning around or flying off. I can play quite hard at times.5Finally a pick with a gripI have always had issues dropping my picks, especially when playing an acoustic guitar. I just don't naturally grip my picks all that hard and can't seem to get in the habit of doing so. They were always slipping out from my fingers. I somehow ended up with one of these pick Juratex Cool Picks In my small collection over the years. Of all the picks, and there are many, I like this one the best. Simply because I can grip it much better than regular picks. The grip has a sand paper type of texture which works very well. I was not able to find these at local music shops so I turned to Amazon. You will pay more for these but I think they are worth it to keep from losing your pick right in the middle of a song. Your mileage may vary but they work well for me.5Currently my favorite pickI bought these picks because the blue oval-shaped area is the most effective nonslip pick surface I have ever used. It's great to have this secure grip on the pick without having to squeeze the pick very hard. But I also like the stiffness and durability of the pick. Because the pick is thinner than some medium picks, it produces a brighter sound. But the material is unusually stiff, so you still get plenty of volume and punch along with that brighter sound. As a result, strings that have started to "go dead" still sound good. The pick is amazingly durable. I'm just guessing, but after maybe 40 hours of playing, the pick is not so worn that I have any concerns about continuing to use it. I bought eight of these picks, and I think this quantity will last me for years. One other interesting thing: I saw a picture of Bruce Springsteen that had sufficient detail and the right angle that I could see the pick he was using, and it was a pick that looked just like this pick with the blue oval. I think it is the same pick. So it's fun to think that I am using the same unusual pick that Bruce uses.Happy picking!5Really good at first. Gripper part wears quicklyI first must say I really love these pics when they are fresh out of the shipping material. they have a great feel for my hand and I love using them. The only drawback is the sandpaper feel of them wears away too quickly for me. I would say I get about 1 to 2 months of use out of these pics before the abrasive gripper part wears out. I am a prof musician so I use the daily. Would definitely recommend these for a casual Porter.3If you tend to drop picks...These are pretty hard to drop, the blue area has a sandpaper feel. The pick has a nice feel (similar stiffness to a Fender medium pick), very good grip surface. Yeah it's more expensive, but it's only like $1 per pick, I can afford it.5
