Extremely Poor Quality & Sound - Possibly Counterfeit? (See Video) This capo is crappo! Completely junk.I have a Martin acoustic guitar with extremely low action, so there's no way reason that any decently-manufactured capo should struggle to produce a clear note. I lost my old Kyser which worked faithfully for over 10 years and decided to try this out as it looked sleek and was about half the cost and had decent reviews. Boy was I wrong!I posted a video of what it sounds like with the Capo clipped to the 2nd fret. You'll notice how extremely muted and buzzy the string gets (especially around the B & E strings). And yes, I tried shifting the capo around to see if it was user-error - Spoiler: the answers no.Based on some of the other unfavorable reviews, it could be that I just got unlucky and the unscrupulous seller is selling chinese knock-offs as the real deal, but I am returning this and getting something else.1For people that are interested in reviews of products several years after purchase please see my experience below:For people that are interested in reviews of products several years after purchase please see my experience below:Previous years product was purchased: 8+ YearsShipping: As expectedAmazon handling: As expectedReview:I bought this capo several years ago when I was trying to get into guitar. It worked exactly as described and is still holding up with monor use! Eventually I gave up the music career as I did not enjoy it as much as I would have hoped. I gave it to a friend that is still using it today. I just asked if he still has it and he does! Still working after 8 years. I would purchase this again if I ever got back into guitar!5Verify shipping location before you buy or else...Make sure to verify that the item is not shipping from China or you'll receive a non-Jim Dunlop 83CB guitar capo like I did. The integrity isn't the same as the JD version because my low e string buzzes while it is clamped.1Genuine but not that great.I was super nervous to receive que Chinese fake product like some other reviews but this is my experience (bought from Amazon seller):*It is genuine (at least it looks like the pictures) and USA made.*The 6th string buzzes when hit a little hard, the rest are perfect.*It actually is different, vs how they used to make them few years ago, for the worse.*The finish has scratches from new right out of the box!! (it can be seen in the picture).*the nickel color is not steel with nickel treatment as I tought, it's just coat of silver paint that I really dont love, it makes it feel like plastic. And by the way it got here scratched still unused, I dont think will be very resistant. In general I think it'll do the work fine but there probably are better options for the same price, you now have more info to decide :).3The reviews about the garbage quality and buzzing are true.Just received the capo tonight and is unlike the Dunlop capos I have purchased before. The spring action is loose with the result that my low E buzzes and the high E is deadened no matter how I try to adjust it. The label states that it is made in the USA and if that is true, manufacturing in this country is in trouble.1Probably a knock off? Don't buy yet, read all reviews!(For reference, I am a professional musician and play live gigs 4-6 times a week. Most of the songs I play are capo'ed and have been using my latest JD capo for about 1 year. Recently, that capo has been showing signs of its last functional days, therefore I decided to buy a new one.)I ordered 4 of these (2 for me and 2 for one of my bandmates), and somehow none of the 4 capos fitted my Taylor acoustic guitar. My fellow bandmate seemed to fit them on his Takamine after some struggling. I have read the reviews and have seen how some people have received a non-JD package, but mine came in "original" JD packaging.I have bought all my previous capos directly on my local music store, but wanted to try ordering online this time (seemed a bit cheaper via Amazon). I compared my previous, beaten, and old JD capo to the 4 new ones and they have DEFINITELY not the same shape, quality, nor strength as the old one. As other reviews point out, either the high or low E's will always fret after placing the capos. DO NOT BUY!EDIT: Just noticed that I cannot report this directly to Amazon since I cannot return the item, I am outside of the US and order via courier to my country. So hopefully someone in Amazon gets to read this and does something about it. To me, these items are worthless and of no use by now.1Why the quality drop?I've had many Dunlop capos over the years, and so I bought a couple more to have handy for a couple more guitars. These are significantly inferior to those I've had in the past. The spring action feels like it's grinding and the spring tension is ALMOST enough - but not quite. C'mon Dunlop... how much money are you really saving by cutting back on quality? Tip to buyer... look for something better. Dunlop apparently doesn't care any more.2These Capos are not made by the Jim Dunlop companyThis is an update to my original review because I have now fully tested two of these capos. I'm truly surprised by all the good reviews here. I'm not sure how it's possible. I've already outlined below in my original review that these are not Jim Dunlop capos. I had purchased two, which I have now given away to student players as I cannot use them. I tested the capos on a standard acoustic and also an electric guitar. The E string buzzes when the capo is applied and no amount of adjusting the capo would stop the buzz from occurring. Both capos had this very same problem. When I received these capos, I noticed right away that they were not the same excellent quality as actual Jim Dunlop capos. The craftsmanship was visibly lower quality and the materials used are a lesser quality than official Jim Dunlop capos. The rubber has a strong odor and there is no brand-name printed anywhere on the product. As a professional musician, I need to purchase reputable brand-name products because I can't afford to have my gear failing during performances. I have no idea about the future performance of these capos because they have no apparent brand, and no measurable reputation. When I contacted the seller, they were not honest with me.1Unusable (as a capo)I'm guessing Dunlop has some consistency problems with the springs they source. There are reviews that say it's way too stiff and others that say it's too loose; and then yet others that say it gets looser over time. At the moment I can't get it open enough to even get it on my old Kramer semi-acoustic, and once I've struggled enough to get it on my Ovation I'm too tired to play anything. I'm a 200-lb grown man and I think my grip is pretty strong. I'm really hoping those that say the spring weakens over time are right! If it had been made by Charles Atlas as a device to build hand strength then I think I would have given it 5 stars, but as an "easy change with one hand" capo it's not fit for purpose ...1Counterfeit, no name brand CapoTook two weeks to arrive, and when it did - it was not a Dunlop 83CN Trigger Capo as described, but rather a no name brand, low quality, counterfeit product. Beware of seller "TZOMSZE". Even if it was a fake, if it at least worked I would be okay with it - but it is completely useless, the spring is way too stiff and the grip digs into your hand so it hurts to clamp, and the rubber pads do not fret properly at all. Very cheap looking finish as well. Thought I was getting a good deal so I had even bought two.1
