Customer Reviews

Bought 2 and soon to be 3.......I had to take the time to review these guitar straps that i ordered here, from Sam Ash...I,ve had the same 3 awesome Kepur guitar straps for 15 years now, and was getting worried about how much longer they will last (with Kepur being out of business for some time now). I was looking for a strap that was stiff enough to hold its shape (like good leather straps do), but leather clings to a shirt like vecro, making it hard to move around while playing. The nylon on these Dunlop straps is nice and thick so it doesnt bend, stretch, and fold like other nylon straps, and because it's nylon, it doesn't bind to my shirt. The edges are even "double stitched" to keep it from twisting and wearing over time (I assume). The thickness of the strap is about 3.8mm thick, and weighed in at 0.40LBs. They did not skimp on the material for sure. Even the leather ends have some sort of poly coat over the outside to keep them from loosening with wear, and are still flexible enough to fit over the strap buttons without a fight. I was amazed that i could get a strap like this for $11, when my Kepurs were $25 a pop back in the day!!! With so many straps on amazon to pick from (not to mention all the rebrands of the same straps), I was lucky to find a good quality strap that was what I was looking for. Spend the extra 4 bucks and a great strap, instead of another useless one that belongs on a cheap laptop case. I recommend getting a $5 (25)pack of Grolsch beer bottle gaskets to use as strap locks too. That strap wont go anywhere !!!5This is a terrible strap. Most of my straps are plain black nylon straps; not fancy but they get the job done. This strap has a few significant faults. The leather material on the back side of the part strap that connects to the rear of the guitar is the back side of top grain leather.Normally this is a long-nap type of suede that is relatively soft. Dunlop appears to have introduced some type of glue to this surface which, if comes in contact with the guitar body, will scratch the surface significantly. The other issue with the strap is that it is rather rigid so that it maintains its semi-circular shape even when you're not wearing the guitar (see pic), this translates into a not-so-comfortable experience while wearing the guitar.1Great. Seems well made. The strap feels very well made. The polyester strap is heavy and thick and does not fee like it will wear out in my lifetime. The leather stitching is another matter. It is only single stitched. The leather is thicker on one end that it is on the other. It seems like it is double layered, except where the stitching is. This seems rather pointless an the leather end will only be as strong as the weakest part. The difference in thickness affects the use of Dunlop SLS1031N Straploks that I installed. I was lucky enough to have the perfect sized washer to fill the gap. The washer is on the upper side of the bottom end on the picture. Additionally, the holes were not large enough for the straploks. I have a leather hole punch and was able to resize them. But if you don't and install the Dunlop straploks, the end of the guitar strap will "warp" and look weird. For the price, this guitar strap cannot be beat.5Very Nice!!There isn't much to say about this strap... it does what it was made to do, and it seems like it was built to last. The only complaint some might have is that it is VERY stiff, and may feel "rough" for a while (before it is "broke in")... but there is no mistaking that the strap itself is made to last, due to its rigidity. It was a little tough getting the bottom part of the strap to fit over my guitar's strap button, but once on, it was certain that the strap wouldn't be going anywhere, lol.As a creative option for those who might not like the stiffness of this strap (when it's new), might I suggest that you get a seat-belt pad to provide a little cushion for those performing long, standing gigs? Here's a nice little pad, for those interested:http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Automotive-22-1-33237-8-Grey-Memory/dp/B006VEHO8U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452996495&sr=8-1&keywords=seatbelt+pad5and so far this is my favorite. it's got twice or more the meat and ...I'm a big guy (think john popper before gastric bypass) and just recently started learning bass guitar.Average length straps put the instrument in an uncomfortable position at full extension so i have bought a few extra long straps, Including the ernie ball long strap, and so far this is my favorite.it's got twice or more the meat and body of most synthetic straps so it will stay flat against your shoulder which is nice if you've got sensitive skin there. It's plenty long for me to hold the bass any way i like.Basically i like it a lot, and I'd buy it again. Might buy another for another instrument.5Look ElsewhereTwo stars because it does what it was designed to do. Minus three stars because it is too hard, inflexible and therefore very uncomfortable. As a matter of fact, the strap is inclined to cut into your shoulders while wearing which is particularly troubling if you have a heavy guitar. I could not wear it at all after a while so opted to simply invest in a padded leather strap, (considerably more expensive but well worth the investment.)2Great strap for taller players. Ends could use some more finishing though. This strap was better than I expected except for one thing: The unfinished side of the leather ends is so new and stiff that it feels like 320 grit sandpaper. I didn't want to take a chance on it scratching the finish of my guitar, so I hit it up with some actual 320 grit sandpaper, and have it on an old cheap acoustic guitar that's already seen better days until it breaks in.Beyond that, it's fairly nice. It's somewhat difficult to find a cheaper, non-custom guitar strap that lets out more than 53-57". I'm 6'2 and play my electric guitar sort of low. Not Mike Ness/James Hetfield low, but lower than average straps will allow. (probably around 59-60") 65" is more than enough to make sure I can play my Les Paul comfortably. The strap is thicker than most nylon straps, and I haven't noticed any stiffness, so maybe that issue has been addressed. (or maybe my definition of stiffness is different. To me, it feels like a thick, soft seat-belt.)Aside from the "sandpaper" issue, the leather ends are thicker than most straps I've used (not by much, but noticeably)I'd say that for the price you're getting a lot, especially if you need a strap capable of going 60" or longer4My favorite guitar strapIn this price range this strap is a steal. Dunlop makes quality products and this strap does not fall short. I have this strap for all of my guitars and it performs exactly as needed. Plenty of length so you can adjust to your style no matter how low or high. Nylon strap is very comfortable considering the next step up would be leather. Most importantly for me the strap doesn't provide too much wiggle room when you put it on the buttons. I, myself, am a big fan of strap locks, but even without that this strap will securely hold your guitar. This tends to be the problem for straps in this price range such as Ernie Ball, Fender, etc... the holes for the buttons are either too big, flimsy, or wear away their stiffness quickly. The Dunlop strap is solid and you can tell it won't fray for a very long time.Great strap, no surprise that I've bought the same one over and over.5Very rigid, not comfortableThis strap is pretty rigid, and isn't very bendy or drapey. Sorry, I don't know how else to describe it. It's very thick and maybe... rugged? It cuts into my neck when I'm playing guitar. It's too rigid and isn't very comfortable. I went to a local guitar shop and found a thinner, more supple strap that works better for my comfort expectations. As far as the connections to the guitar, it felt pretty sturdy, but I didn't use it more than two times, so I can't speak to its durability.3Great strap, then and now!I ordered two of these for my basses. Turns out I have had the exact same strap for 20 years-I d either forgotten that the one that I owned was a Dunlop, or the branding faded off years ago, or something, but I bought two of these, hoping they would be as good as the one that I already had. Turns out, they were IDENTICAL. Down to the last detail. I can say this is an excellent strap for the money and will stand the test of time. The strap is thick nylon and super comfortable while being non-obtrusive. The leather ends are thick and good quality as well. I have a custom leather strap made to my specification, but is too stiff and gets in the way. Found myself going back to the old Dunlop strap. Can t beat it for the money-I d happily pay twice the cost and still think it was a good value.5
