Customer Reviews

It's the perfect happy medium for string control versus comfort in picksThinner picks are comfortable, but bend easily. In my experience, thin picks are garbage for playing lead guitar, especially fast licks. The flexibility, while great for just strumming chords, can throw you off while playing leads because the pick bending over the string means there is a greater range of motion required to get the pick all the way over and play a note. The thicker versions of this pick have the nice beveled edge like this one does which allows you to pluck the string with a little less pressure, and both the bevel and the rigidity shorten the range of motion. However, I find I have to sacrifice comfort in order to use the most rigid, thick picks. This one is perfect. Thick enough for the beveled edge and scorching leads, but thin enough to comfortably strum with. There is none better for me.5Precision perfectionI play a dynamic and agressive blend of progressive rock. I give these picks 5 stars for their grip, durability and precision. But if you play flemenco or spanish guitar style acoustic parts or old school Van Halen style strumming or attack these picks may be too small. They are great for controlled chaos, but not so great for bombastic attacks. I use these for increased technical proficiency and the Ernie Ball Everlast picks for my aggressive shreding and funk. Get 'em both and have the best of both worlds! Awesome picks!5These picks SOUND great.I bought these picks because they sound great and are a great price. I have the 2.0s also, and love them. Let me say up front that the non-shiny surface of these is no substitute for holding your pick correctly. It isn't rocket science any more than learning how to play a chord without the strings buzzing. I used to drop my pick all the time until I took lessons with a jazzer who taught me this: Wedge the pick into the crease of the first knuckle in your index finger, and hold the pick in place with your thumb at a near 90 degree angle. Since I learned this, I have not dropped my pick once! Unfortunately, I still haven't mastered the art of not losing my picks. Hence, 72 packs of these! The 1.5s look greyish black like the 2.0s when you buy them, but under the powdery finish (which quickly disappears after a few uses) they are a nice green color. Both thicknesses feel and play well. Best of all, these sound so good! I just took a workshop from a famous guitarist who was in town from France, and he was using this same pick. The rounded edges are great for strumming rhythm (holding it the same way I described) and the pointy side for playing single notes. I can't stress strongly enough to hold the pick correctly. If you're going to go through all the trouble to buy a guitar and learn how to play it, for goodness sake learn this super easy skill. Best wishes!5Super durable pick with solid gripI've played guitar for 30+ years, and have used all sorts of picks. I had been using heavier Dunlop Gator Grips for a bit, but recently started using lighter strings (11s to 9s). I found I needed to use lighter picks with those strings.I attack the strings quite hard. Traditional cellulose picks last me one set at most, before they are worn down. Dunlop Gator Grips last me weeks, or months. They are nearly indestructible. They have a great feel, with just enough flex. They never get slippery, even playing a hot & sweaty show.5Mellow and smooth attack, my favorite for years. Highly recommended.Years ago, I bought handfuls of different styles of picks from a local music shop and played around until I found my favorites. These are my favorites. I love these picks. I love their shape, which is a tiny bit smaller than standard picks of similar shape. I love the material, which has a softer, mellow attack on the strings and helps control the dynamics when playing multiple strings on bright guitars. I've been using these for years and I don't feel as comfortable using other picks. I feel like these have become a huge part of my personal tone and touch on guitar and I will probably use them forever. The negative side is that these picks wear a little faster than other pick materials. After a few weeks of casual playing, I notice a tiny bit of the tip missing, then over the course of the next month or two, the tip becomes more broad and blunt as it wears. I don't mind this unless the pick is seriously worn from 4 months+ of daily playing. And at that point, it is totally worth the $0.35 to replace it. My picks generally get lost/borrowed/stolen before they wear down enough to need replacing, so again, it isn't such a big deal.5Perfect size. Remains tacky. A little dark.Gator Grips are my go-to picks. The .96mm create a slightly darker tone than average for acoustic playing. I really like the smaller size of the Gators vs the standard Tortex ones. These picks stay slightly tacky even after the powdered coating wears off (or they run through the wash cycle). My only "complaint" is that they don't have as crisp of an audible pick attack as the size thinner (pink) Gator Grip. But the purple is the thinnest that I consider ideal for acoustic single line playing. I can pick single strings with the pink ones, but the purple are sturdier without being too thick. So I use both - pink for all-around acoustic / strumming, purple for basically the same thing, but more toward acoustic blues playing and even electric playing. If the purple had the snap of the pink ones, it would be the perfect pick.5A big bag of picksIt's a big bag of these guitar picks. I bought them because I'm the guy who loses picks and these are my favorites.I counted and there are in fact 72 picks. Not much more to say.5Thicc - never drop 'em!The grip coating on these things seem to never rub off, never dropped one once while playing. Will say, though, getting used to such a thick pick might not be for everyone, since it can really work your wrist. In my experience, it seems like it's more so the material than the thickness. Thankfully, these picks aren't the super hard plastic like a Big Stubby, but it still feels like a stone. Solid picks, and I always carry one with me.4Great picks. I started using these picks 15 years ...Great picks. I started using these picks 15 years ago, and have a hard time using anything else. When I hand one of these to most people, they look at me like I'm crazy, but these picks are the only ones that I've found that are comfortable to me. I don't like thin picks. I don't like having to anticipate a pick bending. These picks do require a light touch if you want to play lightly, and they have a dark sound, so if you want a brighter sound, you might try the 2.0mm Delrin picks.5Not all that much grip - UpdatedI use the Dunlop Nylon picks, but for acoustic accompaniment, I need pick with a percussive "click" to it. I thought this pick might also give good grip, but it really doesn't. It's better than typical pick, but not anywhere as good as the Nylon picks. There are other rougher picks out there that are easier to hold. *** Update *** After using these picks for some time, I think they work a little better than my initial review indicated. The pick delivers clean contact and although it doesn't have a lot of "grab" with the fingers, it's not slippery either.4
