I truly love these stringsI truly love these strings! On my small body Alvarez they have an aggressive tone with balanced highs, crisp mids, and a present low end unlike the other sets of strings I've experimented with. They have a really distinct tone that is uniquely mine within my musical circles :)Unfortunately, I had to give it 4/5 instead of 5/5 because I gave a pack to a guitarist friend and two strings broke on him within the first couple times he played them. Now, he has a very heavy attack, so it's understandable why it happened. Then again, he usually uses a similar gauge from another brand with no issues. It's kind of sad because he loved the tone, but obviously he can't have strings breaking on him in the middle of a set. So either there's some qc issues or something about these strings makes them not suitable for the most aggressive strummers.Regardless, I highly recommend you try them! Worst case scenario you figure out they're not for you, but they're very affordable, just give them some good plays at home to make sure they're not gonna break on you :)4great acoustic strings especially at this price pointI've tried all sorts of strings over the years but they really make my old Takamine N-10 dreadnought shine. I like them on another guitar of mine, but weirdly didn't like them at all on my Yamaha AC5R, which really likes Elixirs. Anyway, these strings are priced nicely and really last. I have slightly corrosive sweat but aluminum bronze doesn't seem to mind that. Give them a shot---picks and strings are relatively cheap to experiment with and you quite often find that a small switch can really bring out the best in a guitar.5Crappy Guitar Strings!I had high hopes for these strings because of a number of reviews that said they were excellent. I opened the pack and before they went on my 410ce Taylor they already looked corroded and used! After putting them on and trying them I decided to immediately change back to the Elixir brand I have been using. I think the reviewers better stop smoking whatever it is that led them to think these strings are any good at all! The strings buzz like crazy in several spots and they sound more like banjo strings than guitar strings. I would ask for my money back but it's not worth the time and effort!1Nice bold sound and great "feel"!On some guitars these strings sound amazing, and for the price they are worth investigating. Not much buzz for how much they pair up with all sapele or mahogany, but I decided to try them on my all solid sapele Martin dread. These are promoted as having a slight mid scoop and are supposed to increase bass, treble and projection. Well, after installing them today I have to say that these deliver on literally ALL of their claims. More projection, bass and treble! They are easier to fret, have a great snappy punch to them, and add a lot more clarity without removing so much of sapele s warm woody charm, or by adding brightness. These are not true mediums though as literally every string is below the gauge of what shipped on the Martin- but this does not seem to negatively impact the guitar s tone. I would buy them again but have several other brands and alloys to get through.5excellent strings for finger picking on a warm sounding guitarI'm beyond impressed with the vibrance and beauty of sound coming from these strings. And the playability too! I replaced a set of Martin SP medium strings with these Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze, and my Ibanez dreadnought is singing. High tones are rich and vibrant, mids are pleasant and balanced, and the bass mixes well with the higher tones. I haven't heard this kind of sound yet from this guitar... These are exceptional strings for finger picking. In my experience, this set will work great for guitars that sound too warm or muddy (like my Ibanez acoustic-electric, which has mahagony sides and engelmann spruce top). These strings brightened and livened up the sound of an otherwise muddy-sounding instrument. I can't wait to try a set on my cedar-topped Seagull guitar (I'm curious if they will sound good on a smaller body cedar-topped guitar). As I'm learning, every guitar has different needs in terms of strings, and finding the right tone and playability for your style involves a bit of a trial and error. For fingerpicking on a warm-sounding body, these are the best strings I've found so far.5Not much better than the ancient ones they replacedI have to update this earlier review. I ve had these strings on for about a week now. They are NO different that the old dead strings I took off. I wasted $10. They have zero sustain, zero brightness, zero volume compared to the strings I took off. I might as well have left my old tarnished strings on.I m not thrilled with these. The strings that had been on my guitar were I don t even remember how old, years? I was looking forward to new strings so much. But these aren t much different. They re a little brighter. But that s about it. The sustain is about the same. The old strings were just that so old I figured any new set of strings would be a world of difference but these aren t 10 bucks worth of difference. The G string has a small but noticeable kink in it about the sound hole. One other thing is: I know the gauges were given up front so I shouldn t be surprised but these don t feel like light gauge strings either. They feel thick and are not easy to bend.In short I will not buy these again even to give them a second chance.1Excellent StringI've had an Ibanez acoustic for years that I've always loved the look of but disliked the way it played and sounded. I've tried literally dozens of different brands of strings and gauges and was about to give up on the guitar, but then I ordered these ones. I've just recently become an Ernie Ball guy, and I am absolutely hooked. These strings will breathe life into rather dead sounding acoustics, and the playability vastly improves on guitars with stiff action. Vibrato and bending is relatively easy with these strings without much effort. They'll add a good amount of bass and shimmer to your sound as well. The sound plays nice with a Beta 57.One thing that's odd about these strings is that because the alloy is different, the bronze doesn't have that bright new shine that I'm used to seeing, the strings almost look old right out of the package. Not a big deal, just something I noticed. If you have an acoustic you're about to give up on because you don't like it's playability, give these strings a shot. They might change your mind.5The worst strings I've ever triedI think people are nuts for liking this string.Things about them:-Roughest to-the-touch strings I've ever played. Cleaning them off with my microfiber cloth after playing was like rubbing the cloth on sandpaper.-They look like dead strings from the beginning. Do you like that dark brown, dead string look? Straight out of the package they look like this.-They have low tension. This could be a positive for some, and can be on the right guitar, however this low tension also reflected in the sound.-Dead, floppy, quiet, thuddy sound. I immediately noticed how crappy these strings sounded. People say they have more bass. Well I would argue that this is an illusion, because the strings have zero zing, brightness, or projection to them. They are a thuddy, muddy mess.-The G string intonation was off by a LOT. I've never once in my life strung up a guitar and had the intonation be off. The G string, brand new, was off by a ton and was considerably flatter as I went up the neck. Again, I've never seen this in my life. I immediately put back on the G string I had just removed and intonation was fine again. These strings were just incredibly strange from the start. Weirdest experience I've ever had with strings. Most strings are just... strings? With some slight tonal differences, etc. These are just flat-out awful in every way. Hugely disappointed.1Best souding acoustic guitar strings I've ever heard.Over the past 45 years of playing guitar, I have used many different brands of strings on my acoustic guitars. Up intil about ten years ago I have always used phosphor bronze. Then I started digging the sound of 80/20's, so when these aluminum/bronze alloy strings came out I was eager to try them. I have a Martin D18 GE, a custom built Auditorium size acoustic by John Osthoff which is incredible, and one butt-ugly one that I built about 15 years ago. I use 12's on all but the Martin, which gets 13's. I got 3 sets of these strings and put them on my guitarsand let me tell you - they are some unbelievable strings. I'm amazed at how piano-like all these guitars now sound. When brand new, the strings are almost a bit too bright, but they tone down after a while of playing. Now, after about a month and a lot of playing, they are still tremendous sounding, and all three of these acoustics have never sounded better. I'm hooked on these strings. I do a lot of bluegrass flatpicking as well as thumb-picking some blues and ragtime stuff. It all sounds so much better. My playing still sucks but my guitars sure sound better than ever. Highly recommended!5Quite Possibly the Best Strings I've UsedI've been playing guitar for over 20 years and decided to put a set of these on my Custom Martin Dreadnaught. This is quite a dark sounding guitar, so I dont want to put strings on it that will be overly bright, but I dont want a dead sound without the middle range tones shining through. I usually play Earthwood or Paradigms, which are also made by Ernie Ball and sound great, but they do tend to get a bit dull after a few weeks or so of playing. I also have some sort of mutant sweat that will destroy strings in a few days if I dont wipe them down after playing. So, I was apprehensive when I put the Alu Bronze strings on...but WOW, I'm impressed. Have had a set on for a few weeks, they sound great, feel great and have held up to normal playing at home and 2 gigs a week.Highly recommend that you try these out and see how they work for you!5
