Customer Reviews

Good deal but wrong colorsI ordered and received a bag of Heavy Ernie Ball picks. The picks I got are all black, yellow, or tortoise shell in color. For some reason I like white for Ernie Ball picks so the colors were a disappointment especially since the product photo showed black, white and light blue. Also, I thought I was ordering a bag of 12 and was pleasantly surprised to get 24. The picks seem durable and provide good tone. I was using a heavier pick for a while (Dunlop 1.14) and still do often use them but 1.14 has turned out to be a little too stiff resulting in painful calluses on my index finger so I use these to switch off. Plus the tone of a 1.14 pick can be a little too harsh in some situations. No, I'm not positive it was the pick thickness that caused the calluses as it could be a number of other things. Again, as to color, I really expected a wider assortment of colors - including the white and blue shown in the product photos - than the ones I got so in a small way I feel I got "suckered."4Takes a min but they are great!I was on the fence about these at first. Kinda filled my sound. But I figured it was because they were a heavier pic then I was using. I ve grown to really like them. DURABLE! They last along time. And don t wear down. I m very pleased with them.4Kind of differentI love Ernie Ball guitar picks. These seem to be a little different than the ones I've had in the past or bought from stores. I don't know why. They also smell funny. The gold lettering wears off after about one or 2 uses and a couple of them are actually cracking where the lettering is rendereing it useless. I was hopeful.1Slick PickThese picks are very heavy indeed and I really like the sort of soft rounded shape they have around the edges. The smooth texture of these hard-plastic picks, combined with the rounded edges make for a very fast pick. I was a little worried that since the texture is so smooth and glossy, that I would have a hard time holding on to them, but that isn't the case. The lettering on the one side is actually engraved into the pick, giving it just enough bite to keep from slipping out. I guess the bag is a random bag of colors; I got black, yellow, and tortoise shell picks in my bag. Definitely pleased with the colors, I have the black one sitting on my black Strat, and a tortoise shell one with my bourbon burst Les Paul. I usually don't care what color my picks are, but it was nice to get some that match my guitars for a change (if you're into that sort of thing). Great picks, I would definitely buy them again if I ever need more of them. I read that some people had broken some, but so far I haven't noticed anything odd about the quality of the picks. However, I usually play more soft blues, so I can't speak to hard strumming with these.5Picks a plenty.Well my son decided to pick up the guitar. I only had one pick so we went to where we always go...Amazon. Two days later we were jamming out thin pick style. These come in a resealable package for convenience and what can I say, the price was was right. Huzzah!5Great picks...you could end up with pinks, thoughGreat picks where string strikes are nicely articulated...especially rakes. Received black and pink picks. Not crazy about the pinks...sort of like pink golf tees...no matter how well you hit the ball you're gonna catch some flack.5... King RAJ-126SN (slope shoulder dreadnought) these picks do the best job of emphasizing the fundamental by reducing the upperWith my Recording King RAJ-126SN (slope shoulder dreadnought) these picks do the best job of emphasizing the fundamental by reducing the upper harmonic content on the pick attack, which enhances the 'woody' slope shoulder sound. If you favor a slightly less 'jangly' acoustic guitar sound these picks might work for you. Holding the pick on about a 30 degree angle to the string also helps. I primarily use these on my electric (Ibanez RG-570) for jazz. Works great for that sound also. And a heavy gauge pick is best for me for fast runs. I compared heavy gauge picks of the same thickness from several different companies and to my ear these are the least bright. Exactly what I was looking for. YMMV. b.5Never Had A Pick Break BeforeI play bass guitar. These are .73, the thickness I prefer. I have never had a pick break on me before today. I used one a couple times to try it out. Then I got a new one out of the bag for practice today. halfway through a song, it felt like my pick wasn't working. It's because the tip broke off. The material is also really smooth, as if when I get sweaty during a show it will be difficult to hold on to. I'm going to go back to dunlop tortex .73 yellow.2meaning it is more work and sounds worse when I do any sort of intense strummingArrived as advertised. 3 stars because I'm not a fan of this material. The "heavy" picks aren't as slick as Fender counterparts, meaning it is more work and sounds worse when I do any sort of intense strumming. They aren't as stiff as Fender picks either. And they certainly aren't as stiff as Dunlop heavies.3Perfect pick for how I playI love the plastic picks. They don't need to last. They need to feel and sound good. The new celluloid ones are too stiff for me and too pointy. The curve of the tip on these is just about right. The edge is beveled nicely so your alt picking and sweeps are smooth and the pick isn't always catching on the strings. Plus, these are big enough to do strumming techniques. I never could get into those jazz 3 picks like Shawn Lane used that are tiny and to to an absolute pointed end. Holding it sideways is about the only way to pick with those I guess. These are the classic shape and formula. Can't go wrong.5
