Customer Reviews

Very nice, not as dead as some say.Easy tuning, look nice, reasonably controlled sound, more ring than I would have liked, but better than the Calftones I had put on before.Slightly more ring control than Pinstripes.Seems I still need a dead ringer on my 12" tom, 10 and 14" floor don't need ringers. That could just be my drum.UPDATE: The issue with the 12" tom WAS the resonant head, making the drum have a huge, hollow sound.I tuned it down, and it sounds like the others now.GREAT!4Evans heads are excellentThis is my second set of Evans Hydraulic heads. I have been playing drums for 56 years and believe these heads are some of the very best. Depending on the venue I like to have my toms dampened. Hydraulic heads give a crisp heavy sound without manually damping. Used my first Evans hydraulic heads on a maple set of drums with a lot of success. During the past 10 years I have been playing a birch set of drums for most of my gigs and these heads have made a world of difference in the sound I have been wanting. Can't beat these heads!5From tuning trash to a tuned jewel.I bought these for use on a small community bands very cheap pulse drum practice set. This set has had a few different sets of heads and never sounded very well until we put these on. While it is no high end set this had the conductor stop dead in her tracks to make sure we did not pull out our good concert set out. Very impressive tonality, response, and ease of tuning. I would highly suggest these as if it could make the practice junk drum sound this well I can't wait to put them on the high end set. I paired them with Evan G1 resonate heads.5Forget Mufflers! These hydraulic glass heads are a great choice for those who want wet attack with depth. I recently purchased a drum set with toms that rang out for days. This is excellent for live performances but at practice and in recording it's overkill. I've tried the hydraulic blue on the low tom and it was like pounding a washtub, way too dead for my taste. I thought I'd give the glass a try since they're known for brighter attack and it turned out to be just that. Tuned high they still have a bright long sustain for a dampened head. Tuning these batter heads low and the resonant heads very low gave me just the right chest thumping sound for heavier styles. All this gives these heads versatility to cover almost any genre in small venues and practice spaces. If you have a kit that doesn't resonate a lot or don't like any muffling in your tuning, these aren't for you. For others who want to try the Evans Hydraulic line, I own them all and are basically categorized as:Glass - Open; Blue - Muffled; Black - Dead.4Brother Loves them! This was bought as a gift for my brother-in-law. He absolutely loves them and says that he gives it a five out of five. I believe him though I'm not a drummer myself.5Best heads for small practice rooms and still retaining a musical tone.Gives my Yamaha Stage custom toms the perfect amount of resonance with no additional dampening. I have a small 10x10 room I play in and with these heads the drums sing without the horrible overtones I used to get with clear or coated heads. I tune just past the wrinkle-point on these heads, played them for a month (about 3hours a week) and they show no significant signs of wear.5Perfect for people who aren't good at tuningI SUCK at tuning my kit. It's easy enough to get the snare sounding good usually but toms are a nightmare. These heads are advertised as being goid for people who aren't good tuners and it is very true. I put them on and it sounded amazing.Definitely made even better with a few moo gels. I think I found my new go-to heads.5True Hydraulics and real savings.OK, as described, these are true hydraulic heads. There is dampening oil between the 2 plies that really works. If you are looking for a warmer, more refined sound as well as built-in overtone reduction, these will suit your needs. They are a good buy individually, and even more so in this 3 pack. securely shipped, each in its own factory packaging.4Drummer Says Two Thumbs UpOur Drummer is riding a vintage Pearl set. We had the original skins on them but he asked if we could change the heads to these. Since It's my kit I sprang for the heads and he put them on. The sound completely changed. So much deeper and richer. I don't know if the originals were worn out, dried up or what but these were an affordable upgrade and improved the sound completely.5Evans qualityCan t beat Evans quality and sound. Love the low end tone and ease of tuning5
