Too wimpy for vintage neck profile...I thought this would be a great solution. Low profile, smooth operation, easy on the fretting hand. And the capo is a beautiful thing to behold. Unfortunately my Collings has a "vintage now" neck which is a little chunky. As a consequence, I'll get string buzz, usually on one of the middle strings, If I'm not precise in placing the capo and squeezing hard. Otherwise, it will shift around as soon as I start playing. I don't have this problem on my Taylor which has a slimmer neck.I guess my feeling is that they tried to make the capo smaller and sleeker, in the process maybe sizing it down to where it has lost versatility. I think it needs a millimeter or so more back to top depth to fit all neck profiles. I'll still use it since it is easier on my left hand, but I'm a little disappointed in the fit.3Noticeable upgrade!I lost my favorite capo, and my cheapo-backups just haven't been cutting it. Sometimes it takes a bunch of fiddling to get rid of a small rattle on a fret. I felt like it was about time I shelled out the money to buy the more expensive capo.First use, was set and forget. Having used cheap capos my entire life, I was used to having to fiddle with it every now and then to get rid of rattles. My favorite capo had this issue less often, but still on occasion.I have not had this issue whatsoever with this capo and am immediately impressed.Another issue I had was a bulky capo occasionally getting in the way, this one has a surprisingly low profile and is hardly noticeable when playing. I've really never had that experience before... it just almost feels like it's not there.Last of all, I was really worried seeing how small it was that it wouldn't fit my classical guitar, which is a problem with several of my backup capos. This one surprisingly works on my wide-neck classical!Overall, I noticed a difference immediately! Will update when/if it ever breaks.5Major Disappointment of an "Upgrade"I loved the original G7th Performance Capo. Heck, I still do! It's hands down the best capo I own - and I have just about all the varieties. The Performance 2 was a huge let down, however. I didn't mean to order it. I actually thought I was ordering the original capo since the item description on the silver one was of the original. The new design is majorly flawed. As a few other reviewers have mentioned, there is a low E buzz due to the fact that the capo won't clamp completely. I can press as hard as possible but it will still buzz. I tried this on a Tele, Les Paul, Epiphone Emperor Swingster, and a Takamine acoustic. The only guitar where it was just OK was the acoustic. Below the 5th fret on the acoustic was relatively buzz free. Above, however, was the same buzzy story. On each guitar I compared it with the original and Performance 2. The original was excellent every time and the upgrade failed every time. I can't believe they ruined what was such an outstanding capo. Now I am just hoping my seller approves my refund request.1Stop researching and reading reviews, this is the capo for you.The capo adventures are over. This is the best capo by far.I have an american nitro SG. I cannot keep a Snark tuner on the headstock for 30 minutes without it leaving a mark in the finish. (that luckily has gone away each time I've done it.) Whatever silicone compound they use to make the gripping material does not effect nitro. Not only is this the best capo for easy use, they also care to make their silicone compound perfect. If a company cares about details like that, you can rest assured you have a very well thought out, durable product. In my research, the biggest complaint I saw was getting used to how tight to squeeze it to get a solid hold on any location on the neck.. I have never put the capo in any position and it put the guitar out of tune or have string buzz.Another bonus, I have a 12 string. I bought another companies 12 string specific capo before I decided to try this company. This six string capo works better on my 12 string than the capo that is designed for it.5Ultimately dissapointedI have a high expectation on this capo when I saw the fantastic design and convenience for use, which however finally failed me. I cannot use it on both of my taylor and martin guitars, when I put it on my fretboard and squeeze it firmly and even excessively, the 4th string is always buzzing, I have tried different ways/angles to put it on the fret however it never worked once, I'll go back to my planet waves NS capo, really really really really disappointed at this capo1An Honest review from a worship leader...I use these on my Gibson Songwriter Delux studio and my Taylor 214ce Dlx. (2 total G7th capos) my most expensive guitars.*Bias:I have many guitars [14], but I prefer the Kaiser capo. Honestly... if that s all you needed to hear, you can disregard the rest of the review. The main reason I say this is because sometimes I Like to take the capo off completely (not leave it at the nut... which in some cases is more convenient than others)And with the G7th, I can leave the capo at the nut the entire time I play my guitar or move it to the frets with ease. The great part about these capos is that they are my favorite I ve used so far in terms of moving up and down the neck of a guitar during song transitions. It s great if you which keys often. If you do it rarely, then I wouldn t get this capo. Hence why I only have 2 (and maybe a 3rd one is coming soon). If you re really into having the option of putting on the head stock it s possible, but not as quick. It terms of buzzing:It can happen if it s not firm on your guitar, so squeezing the capo just a tad more in between transitions is something I d highly recommend to ensure that capo is fully covering every string. Overall it s a pretty awesome capo in looks and in functionality. It s worth the money ! No doubt.***BUT*** if you re kind of a beginner or you re NOT heavy or even moderately into changing keys a lot, then this is quite unnecessary.4Pricy, but really worth it. Does just what it claims.I've only used this capo briefly, so I'll update this review if anything changes. So far, I really like it, and would recommend it.Pros:* heavy-feeling in the hand, with all-metal construction that feels premium* slim enough to not get in the way of my fretting hand, to the point where I was thrown off at first when I didn't bump into the capo* seems to work further back from the fret than other capos I've tried, though that will need more testing* easy to put on and move with one hand* pulls my down-tuned GS Mini out of tune less than other capos, and should work better once I find the right strings for this tuningCons:* pricy, so you'll have to determine if it's worth it* pricy, so keeping one in each of my guitar cases will take more funding than a $15 capo would, and losing one will hurt moreI can't find any cons with the unit itself. It does exactly what it claims, letting you adjust the pressure on the strings and move the capo easily with one hand. It's slim and gets out of the way. It feels great, seeming sturdy and solid. It has soft coating in the right places. Time will tell, but I'm impressed so far. Price is the only concern, but hey, you get what you pay for.5G Flat on this Capo.....You Want the High-End VersionThis is G7th's little brother to the G7th G7 Performance 2 capo which I own and love. This barely works on a guitar, at least a good acoustic one. It's too weak and flimsy in comparison to the same capo they make and market as the G7th G7 Performance 2 Capo....that's the one you want, and it will be the last capo you will ever use or buy. I needed a backup, and this doesn't qualify as a worthy capo on any level. You can tell the difference in size and weight....the G7th G7 Performance 2 Capo is more expensive, is heavier in weight and in girth. I wasted good money on this not knowing they added this cheap junk to get folks to buy in at a lower price point....$67 for the "good one," versus $37 for this junk. Buyer beware!1Just didn't work well for me... Keyword being "Didn't"First the plus... The design is very friendly to the fretboard hand in that it doesn't intrude as much as other when playing open chords. Now for the dislikes:First it constantly falls off the head stock when stored there. doesn't seem to matter how hard you press it on there. Sometimes it sticks like glue and other times your left trying to find where it fell off. This last time it fell of was not able to find it. So now I am out $40 after 1 month of use!Secondly you really have to clamp down hard and make sure it is on a sweet spot to avoid any fret buzz. Very Aggravating ...I am a seasoned player of over 40 years and I know how to use a Capo. This is a nice concept in the minimal design aspect. But when I buy a product it should just work. You shouldn't have to fiddle around with it to stop fret buzz or spend your time trying to find it after it falls off. Very disappointed.I would return it if I knew where it fell off last..... Ugh.....2Works fine for me - no fret buzz with my 2 guitars...After reading the other reviews I was concerned I might get fret buzz with this, but I've used it several times on both my Martin acoustic (16" radius) and Fender Strat (9.5" radius), and didn't get any buzzing strings with either. I had to tighten it down a little harder with the strat, understandably, to get the 1st and 6th strings fully seated, but no problems. I could imagine a vintage Fender neck with a 7.25" radius might be a bit of a challenge, but so far so good for me. I have a Thalia and it works well, but it's kind of big and bulky and you can't clamp it to the headstock when you're not using it (you can store it above the nut, but that interferes with how I hang my guitars). This G7th is a lot sleeker and lighter and does the job just as well as far as I can tell. And it clamps easily to the headstock when not in use. If I start having string buzz, I'll update the review, but for now I'm fully pleased with this capo...4
