Customer Reviews

Better than expectedI paid four dollars for these cables because some TVs I hook my console up to won't allow to force a 16:9 ratio when they detect a standard-definition connector. This isn't cool practice, but is easily bypassed by using a high-definition connector. And for the price -- considering every modern-day TV in existence has these types of cables -- This was reasonably more affordable than Nintendo's official cable. The plugs are part of the reason I bought the thing in the first place, but the picture was either an artist render, prototype or cable by a different manufacturer, say, Belkin. Regardless, they work, just some deceptive advertising on part of the reseller. The cable itself is pretty nice, though it is nowhere near a premo-quality cable, which kind of sucks. But on the upside they appear gold-plated for best conductivity. Video and audio came through clearly, so no problems there, and the component connectors stay in well enough to play a game without fear of them falling out.Overall, no real complaints aside from the fact the picture used shows cables from a different manufacturer. If these particular cables are still on the cheap, it doesn't hurt to buy them for improved video quality with the Wii.4It's aight. The cord does help reduce the lines and blurriness from the Wii but some games may not be affected by the cord. I would probably recommend you play it on a EDTV for best quality or if you still have the standard RGB cords use them. Otherwise you're better off playing this on a standard or EDTV.I'm using these on my Sanyo 26" HDTV and it's not the best quality but there is a difference.Pros: It works* Cleans up the scan lines.* Cords are cheap and purchasable(shipping rate costs more than the cords themselves)Cons: Don't expect to get HD quality.* Audio cables are NOT able to split apart like regular RGB cords so if you're trying to hook them up to a sound system....good luck.* Expect some "Ghosting" and I also noticed that sometimes games have a oil painting kind of look. (Tested with Harvest Moon: Animal Parade)**** TIPS ****- Make sure to adjust your t.v. settings as well. You won't get the best picture quality if you're expecting the wires to do all the work. Make some adjustments to your t.v settings and you should be good.I'm not too bummed by the quality but maybe it's time to homebrew it up??4Wii does not recognize this cables as component. HD mode is unavailable and the picture is in green and white. The Wii does not recognize this cable as component. If you bought these to get high-definition 480p video out of your Nintendo, these will make your games look like an old silent film instead. The Nintendo will not allow me to change the definition from 480i to 480p, it is silent and the picture is green and white. I've checked the cable for a switch to perhaps change it from standard to HD, but there is no such switch.I've connected the cables properly into the back of my HDTV and likewise into the back of the nintendo, but I cannot adjust the settings in the Wii menus to display in 480p. The cables are bunk and not worth your money. I am returning them right away and getting component cables that actually work.1Ordered after connecting my friends Wii with the composite cableMy friend purchased a Vizio 42" LCD television and I went over to connect her system. After hooking up the Wii with the factory composite cable and turning it all on, the picture was horrible! I did a little research to see if there was a better solution for the Wii with a HDTV and saw that the component cable would provide a better picture quality. I had recently ordered myself a Mitsubishi 60" HDTV and surely didn't want my Wii picture quality to be that bad. I purchased two of these cables, one for her and one for me. I hooked my Wii up with the cable and the picture quality surely isn't as good as an HDMI connection but it isn't horrible. My friend can't tell the difference much and I haven't gone over to her house to see for myself. Overall we're pretty happy with the cables.4Better than stock RCA cables.first off i would first like to mention that even though the Wii doens't support any HD resolution, that doesn't mean you can't improve the video quality. Im using the Wii on a 42" Vizio lcd tv and before using these cables the picture was always kinda blurry and colors seemed to be washed out, like an old gamecube game. So i considered these $3 cables just to see if the picture can be improved. I compared the video quality before (with stock RCA cables) and after using the new cables. I plugged in the Component cables, put in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, the difference is night and day! The colors stand out more and aren't blurry like they were with RCA cables. Even though the WII isn't HD but the game surely looks like it now, its still running 480p but its a nice 480p. Other games look really nice! For the price of the cables i say its surely worth the money, sure its not HD but in my opinion it sure looks alot better than stock RCA cables.5Component cables make a NOTICEABLE difference!!!When I first played the Wii on my new 40" Samsung it looked, annoyingly blurry and games appeared so bloated and dull... It was tolerable but I couldn't play some games right. But after researching a bit on component cables I landed on here and compared a few of the cables. I got them today and the Cable quality is nice, the Red/White audio is separated from the rest and setting all of this up was a breeze. After changing the Wii to output to 480 Progressive, it made a huge noticeable difference. Many were saying that it wasn't THAT much of a difference but honestly playing metroid prime trilogy was such a huge improvement and I was really glad on this purchase, for five bucks it was really worth it. When I was playing skyward sword (well all of the games To be honest) the color array was way more vivid and the image was nice and sharp, however this isn't an HD console so yeah you'll see the "jaggies" but it's not a big deal. Playing windwaker was the **** though!! All in all with this cable and throwing some Samsung "Standard" motion plus and I'm enjoying my Wii games again, and some gamecube ones too! If you feel the need go ahead and AMA regarding the cables and other stuff you might be concerned about!5Got it for my Wii UI stream a lot on Twitch and record things for Youtube, so I was tired of using a dazzle for my recording software. I was given a Hauppauge HD PVR which used the five cables. I didn't own any, so I liked the price of these. When it arrived, I plugged it in and was dismayed to see the colours act all weird and a strange buzzing noise. I asked a friend of mine who knows how all this stuff works, and he made me try a few different things, nothing was working. We both assumed I had a defective cable, and I had no issue with sending it back and buying a new one, it happens.Well, I continued fiddling with the cables for a bit, and just for good measure, I switched the two reds I had plugged in. The picture immediately displayed correctly and the buzzing stopped. Turns out I had plugged it in wrong. Now, this isn't a fault really of the product more than my misunderstanding of the colour red, but my friend says that they should be labeled clearly or a different shade of red. Looking at the cables, both reds are exactly the same in size and shade. So, if you get this cable, it works perfectly, just be sure the reds are plugged in correctly!5Only Works IntermittentlySounds like a lot of other people have had good luck with these cables and I thought I would give them a shot for 4 bucks (that's with shipping) but the set that I got are utter crap. All the connections seem to fit just fine in all the places they should, none of the wires are bent or bulging or clipped, but they still intermittently drop the signal sometimes giving you just sound and no video, or just nothing at all.I have other component cables for other devices that work flawlessly, so I would doubt its my TV, and the standard composite Wii cables don't ever cut out so I would doubt its the Wii.First time I started the Wii up the signal died before I could even launch a game, took all the wires out, checked everything over for kinks or breaks, plugged everything back in and it worked for 5 minutes before going to a black screen again. Fidgeting with the wires without unplugging I was able to regain sound, but no picture. That's all it takes, 15 minutes and I am 100% sure their destiny is the garbage heap. Not even worth the effort to make a return, which is probably exactly what the seller is banking on, but oh well.Think I'm just going to continue to use the standard composite cables as they've always worked and the picture quality improvement (from the 5 minutes the component cable was working) is too little to justify paying anything for it.Hopefully other purchasers have better luck.1Should have been in the boxBought this and was treated to 480p (ermagerd, progressive scan SD signal...in 2011!?) from my Wii. The Wii came only with composite av cables. This might have not been an issue for many people back in 2007, but cheese and rice!, in this day and age?The aftermarket cables worked just fine. Connection was solid, no issues even thought he cables are shielded very well. I was mostly concerned with the connection to the Wii, which is a proprietary connection. It worked fine. Colors were more vibrant and picture quality was crisper than before, but lets face it: if you've become accustomed to an HD picture, looking at the Wii even with component cables makes me feel like I need glasses. But my complaints about the Wii belong elsewhere. If you still care about playing anything on a Wii, buy these now.4You get what you pay forCables arrived on time, easy to get out of the packaging, and self-explanatory to hook up. The first couple of games I tried, things looked and sounded great, but with some games that were downloaded (original Super Mario Bros, for example), half my screen is black and green vertical stripes. I have tried someone else's set of cables and am not having this issue. I've also tried going back to standard red, yellow, white, and am not having this issue, either. The plugs are not very snug - they're pretty loose, and I had to actually hold them in place while I moved the rest of this cable behind the TV. For the games I play most often, I'm getting quality picture and sound - a good deal for what I paid for this. But, I am disappointed in some games being not playable at all, as well as the loose fitting connection. I would not repurchase this set of cables.2
