Her interpretations are unique, and in most cases she worked with excellent colleagues and maestri. The notes are excellent. Perhaps the only negative is relatively little about her colleagues, but in this day of the internet, information is easy to be found. Highly recommended.5A must have for any Callas fanI have bought this as a Christmas present but I had a chance to listen to one recording from the play (1955 or 1956 Aida). I was amazed what work has been done to restore the recordings. Definitely worth the purchase.5All of La Divina. Maria Callas Divinely Delivered. The Great Event of 2014.This is it! I have been listening to Callas, and her recordings - all of them - since 1956. I attended the master classes and bought her records in every available iteration: 78s, Angel LPs, improved European LPs, pirated editions of the live performances, the original CD issues, the 1997 remasters and now, this astounding set of definitive discs. I know this fascinating voice - "too clear for the dramatic roles and too dark for the light ones" but always guided by a towering musicality unprecedented in Italian opera - from top to bottom and this is the way I always dreamed of hearing it. To have the life's work of one of the geniuses of the Twentieth Century beautifully presented in one monumental box is thrilling for me beyond all expectations. I have been listening to each complete opera and recital in reverse chronological order from end to beginning of her career and the revelations abound. Each evening, I disconnect the phone and plunge into a new adventure. It is like sitting at the feet of Scherazade for a thousand nights and a night. Everything is revealed, laid bare. You hear everything, and the unprecedented depth, power and richness of the orchestra, alone, is worth the price of admission. Those who understand and love Maria Callas will find this to be the fulfillment of all expectations. Those who haven't ever understood her, will get it now. And those are the operative words from me: Get It Now!5THIS IS FOR THE AGES....FOREVER AND FOREVER5 stars is NOT enough!! The complete Maria Callas set we've all been waiting for. I am still listening to individual tracks from each disc and I can truthfully say that Callas has never sounded better on CD. No exaggeration. I have nothing but praise for this set.I also have within my reach all the prior Callas 1997 transfers on CD and have compared a few excerpts with these new transfers. The difference is amazing. I feel like I've been listening to this amazing voice with balls of cotton in my ears all these years. I've never noticed how muffled and distant the orchestra was. What a difference. This is the Callas Tosca, the Butterfly and Carmen I remember hearing on the original LPs I had obtained from the library years ago.After hearing these transfers you'll never go back to the earlier ones. I can promise you that.Also, the box these marvelous recordings are housed in is strong, sturdy and attractive. It is also a little bigger than I imagined. Nothing flimsy here. The oblong book that comes with the set is filled with excellent photos on glossy stock. Stacked below and in front of this book are the CDs neatly lined in order.If you are like I was, you are probably curious about the cardboard sleeves the discs are housed in.It horrified me to think I would be pulling out the discs from tight cardboard sleeves. Scuffs and scratches forming on my discs upon repeated listening like many of the Sony sets. Tearing and ripping the artwork as I try prying the CDs out.That stubborn third disc tucked in the middle and refusing to move. I crossed my fingers as I opened this set. No! Not again!Well, GOOD NEWS!First off, each sleeve is designed like the original record cover. The discs, decorated like tiny LPs, are protected by paper sleeves that slide out just like you would pull out a paper sleeve from an LP jacket. The discs never touch the abrasive cardboard outer sleeve. Also,the jackets are slightly over-sized. No tight fit and the paper sleeves slide out very easily. No more scuffing your discs or tearing the beautiful artwork. If I'm confusing you, just think of an LP album in miniature. Exactly like that. You pull the paper sleeve out and there's the record within. A small booklet with tiny notes are in each sleeve. Cute. Now why couldn't the other companies think of this? Warner got it right and I hope this idea catches on. It's brilliant. Especially for those who physically have problems removing the discs from those tight sleeves.Well, that's my say. Go out and grab this set if you must have Callas in your collection. It's a real winner and everything is done up wonderfully. These guys, and gals I'm sure, have been doing their homework. Just one of those perfect CD sets that come around every once and awhile. And the price is right for sure.5Great CDs, great presentationI grew up in the opera world with Callas and Tebaldi. I was one of the few that I knew who loved them both. So I was very happy to be able to purchase the complete remastered CDs. What a great collection! I have many Callas LPs that were starting to show their age, so this collection is most welcome. The sound does vary somewhat based upon the original recording but, all in all, the recordings are great. The deluxe set contains 70 CDs so the box is rather large but the disks are well protected in mini LP like jackets and easy to retrieve. The hardcover book is interesting with some great pictures. I have listened to a few of the operas and just finished the Mad Scenes. Callas in in great voice and the remaster is very well done with presence and depth. This set is well worth the price for a piece of musical history.5Great collectionVery well-done set. Nothing to add to the positive reviews here. As a home audio nut I'll just mention that the sound is quite good - many are mono recordings but sound quite good.5Five StarsAWESOME!!! A super TEN5
