Five Starseverything I expected5Great!I really enjoyed this purchase and still have the movie! I watched it over and again, the quality was so great! I'm actually keeping it. Thanks.5Five StarsAnother Bond Soundtrack for my collection5I wish she died several years agoThough it's hated by many I believe that Die Another Day is perfectly fine as a Bond movie and certainly better than many instalments in the series. David Arnold's music takes a huge nosedive though, I don't know why but he went too electronic with this one in a poor attempt to give it a more modern feel. Huge mistake!Bond scores have always been lush, orchestral, thematic, melodic. Very, very little of that is present in this soundtrack album, mostly made up of shorter tracks that never get any space to breathe. He seems to be comfortable quoting his previous Bond scores but holds back when it comes to the more famous themes. The last track teases us with possibly launching into a full-blown rendition of the YOLT theme but stops after a few notes. Why??? Go all the way! You are allowed to. These themes are available to use.Don't get me started on the awful Madonna song. What were producers thinking when they okayed this screeching, discordant din? Even Arnold himself said that it was completely atonal and unworkable.Sadly, this album is made up of average tracks with some horrible moments counterbalanced by disappointingly short moments of greatness. Overall, a non-essential Bond album.3Bland, James BlandDie Another Day nearly killed the James Bond franchise as it was an over-the-top, loud, too-fantastical movie that more resembled the parody Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me than the thrilling movies which made the James Bond films into the longest lasting film franchise. It was a bad Bond film, but the soundtrack by David Arnold with contributions by Madonna and Simon Oakfield is even worse.Do not get me wrong. This trio certainly has great combined, musical talent but this album is inappropriate and out of place for a James Bond film, rushed and poorly made. While some of the early tracks are atmospheric and well handle, the rest of the film's soundtrack is a thrown together piece of techno music. The theme song is grating and out-of-place for the grungy Korean torture sequence. The Arnold versus Oakfield theme sounds like it came from a James Bond video game. It is a shame that someone decided to choose this over a collaboration with Don Black called "I Will Return." What could have been? I do not know, but even Bond fans should skip this album.1Not quite what I thoughtIt was certainly good, no doubt about that. It just wasn't quite what I was expecting. If you like James Bond movies then I am sure you will certainly enjoy it. Even if not, the musical ability of the composer is very good, the desired effect was certainly achieved. A good CD, worth having. It just wasn't amazing.3Glad I could find this CDI accidentally left my Die Another Day CD in my son's car. I was very happy to find it online and get it very quickly.5One of my all time favorite albums!David Arnold is & always will be a musical wizard. He literally can turn anything into pure love & magika. Composers & producers look to his genius work & advice on many films today & that we've seen in the past 20+ years. I was only 10 when this film came out, & I still love it to this day (top 5 films for me.) This soundtrack is amazing, simply put. I love the blend of Asian styles combined with pop & often times my favorite, electronic sequence's. Then the next moment you're in a beautiful Cuban atmosphere played by some of the best in Orchestras. There is such a wide range of blends of music in this album & from the film, it definitely was ahead of its time but so amazing. What I would give to have music & films like these again!! 5Die Another Day will never dieIf you're a big Bond fan, or just love the original Bond theme, you will enjoy this soundtrack. The original theme is interwoven throughout the tracks without being redundant. Oh, and Madonna's title track is good, too.5Musically definitely a new Bond! Finally here it is! First of all, if you didn't like TWINE, then you'll probably hate this one. It's much more electronical than previous Bond scores and also contains techno rythms. It's also one of the few Bond scores that has a very dramatic chorus, which works brilliantly with all the action tracks. The score definitely DOES contain the James Bond Theme. And not only that: when I listened to this for the first time, I instantly recognized tributes to From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Moonraker, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough. Some people may say that it's just a rip- off, but it's definitely not! It's so brilliantly mixed that you barely notice! The best track and probably one of the best chase music ever written without a doubt is Hovercraft Chase. Fast music combined with an excellent interpretation of the James Bond Theme. The gunbarrel music goes back to the Barry- style gunbarrel mixed with a drum loop. Also, the score contains much more cues of the Bond theme than what's labelled on the cover.A weak point of this soundtrack is that there's no real theme on it, there are only cues. With Madonna's title song obviously unsuitable for adapting into a score, composer David Arnold had to try something different and it works out brilliant at the end.Now that I finally have this excellent score, I really wish MGM had dropped some of the nice, but useless bonus material in favour of more music. This album gives us only about 40 out of 100 minutes pure score.Nevertheless, this soundtrack is absolutely brilliant!5
