Customer Reviews

Well made strap, looks nice and works like a charm. Great value for minimalists like meLow cost, well made and much better than the cheapie cheezy one that came with my cheapie cheezy guitar. I am no Jimmy Hendrix by ANY stretch, more like Jimmie Walker when it comes to guitar, but you know what? Its comfortable and feels solid and secure, but its simple in all of the right ways. I like this strap and I recommend it to any one. Has not let me down5Just adequate...The strap is just adequate, long enough for almost any size person or guitar. I think you'll find that the nylon strap cuts into your neck, not literally as to blood letting but still very uncomfortable. In fact I'm avoiding any and all nylon webbed straps. Buy a strap that is not made of nylon and has non-metallic hardware. Shop around on Amazon for a while and you'll find soft cotton guitar straps for about the same price.3Nice thick leather ends, better than others I haveBought this for my youngest daughter. We have five other guitar straps in the house from various manufacturers. The leather ends on this strap are by far the thickest of any we have - in some cases more than twice as thick. Although I had to put a little effort getting the ends over the strap buttons on the body, I'm glad its a snug fit. No need for strap locks and no room for strap blocks.Unless this leather on the ends stretch quite a bit over time, I feel confident neither end will slip off (unlike the strap I just replaced on my bass which slipped off the top as I was removing the bass from my shoulder). Each leather end is made from one reasonably thick, moderately firm piece (others I have are made from two thin, weak pieces edge stitched together). I feel the chance of this stretching significantly anytime soon is small. The 'grape' model makes a great visual contrast to a black bass.I put the pick pocket on top - stashing a couple in there at once should prevent them slipping out while the bass is on its stand.I'll be buying a few more.4Extremely mediocre - no "pro" in ProtecI've been playing guitar for 25 years. I purchased this because I was intrigued by the pick pocket. Since it was under $10, I figured I'd give it a shot. I like the idea of having a pick pocket on all my straps and would have considered changing all my straps. Unfortunately, there is nothing "Pro" about this Protec Strap. The pick pocket is too deep -- that means if I drop a Fender medium pick in the middle of a song, it's going to be a struggle to pull one out quickly. Also, the nylon is not as heavy duty as my favorite inexpensive strap (the Jim Dunlop D3809BK -- I own 4).Since all new straps are difficult to get onto a guitar's strap pegs, I don't consider that a factor to review. Over time, the leather will soften. Most players use strap locks anyway... you don't want your expensive (or even inexpensive) guitar hitting the floor. I use Schaller strap locks on my straps and they are always hard to get onto a new strap. Here's a tip to install strap locks-- force the bolt through (which takes some prying), screw on the nut really tightly (without the washer), remove the nut, put the washer on, and then screw down the nut and washer tightly (tools -- plier and socket wrench).I've read other reviews about the Protec strap not being long enough, but it was fine for me when fully extended. I'm 6' tall and sling the top of the guitar at the top of my hip. The width is the same as my Jim Dunlops, but again, the nylon isn't as heavy duty.Overall, an extremely mediocre cheap strap for a company that has "Pro" in their name. I'm going to stick with my Jim Dunlops and make my own shallow pick pocket with a thumb cutout for quick pick access. I'll call it the quick pick!2Not for guitars with neck dive!It packs smaller than my leather strap so I can fit it in the tiny front pocket of my gig bag along with cables, a pedal, and an adapter and some strings. There are many seat-belt guitar straps around, and they all seem good to me, but I wanted one with plastic and not metal strap hardware. The plastic can't scratch or ding my guitar if I whip the guitar with it accidentally. The pick pocket isn't really much of a pocket and picks are likely to fall out when you take the strap off... but still it's nice that it's there.4Good Quality and Holds the GuitarIt does what you'd expect... it holds the guitar. The materials and quality are both good, and it's reasonably attractive. for the price it was as good as one could expect. Two notes:- The strap is long enough for the guitar to be placed at a normal position, but if you want to have the guitar really down low this strap may not be long enough for you. I'm about 6' and my at full length this has my guitar at hip level right where I want it.- The idea of the pick holder is great and at first I really appreciated the extra thought on this. However, I quickly realized that while the opening of the pick holder is at the top of the pocket when wearing the guitar, every time I put my guitar down on the stand and the strap fell down to the side of the guitar the pick holder was inverted and the picks all fell out. So every time I picked up the guitar I'd need to pick up the picks from the floor around it. I think what it's missing is a little flap to cover the opening, maybe with a bit of velcro to secure it. I still appreciate their attempt at innovation here...Solid Materials + Good Quality + Attractive + Low Cost = A+ for Protec5Not real leather. It's just rubber that deterioratesThis product was fine for awhile, but like most Chinese products the quality is terrible over time. It started to deteriorate in less than a year. The so called black leather ends are not leather at all, but some kind of treated hard rubber that becomes greasy, tacky, and stains everything black that it touches including my fingers and the back of my guitar - and it's hard to get off without using a solvent. This strap is a piece of Chinese junk. You would be better spending a bit more and buying a genuine American made strap.1Great strap. Great price.Great strap. I like the seatbelt material. I've tried leather/suede straps and they clung to my shirt and wouldn't let me move the guitar around much. I like this strap because it isn't too wide that it cuts into my neck. It isn't too narrow that it cuts into my shoulder. It allows me to move my guitar, holds it securely and feels comfortable. I'm not impressed with the pick pocket. It is just big enough for one...maybe two picks. But I wanted to leave picks in it when the guitar was on a stand and that doesn't seem to be working out. The strap hangs down so the pick pocket is upside down and the picks can fall out. I guess the pocket is just for use when you are wearing the strap. It's still a nice feature...just not useful for my purposes.5Best guitar strap that I ever ownedBest guitar strap that I ever owned. I will keep this forever. I love this so much. That I want to marry it. It was a little hard to put it on my Squire strat which is made by fender. I love this thing very much... I will enjoy this very much... My dream job would be me being a musician will I am out of high school. My rock n roll band will be called Jake Walls and The Flamethrowers. I am totally in love with this product that I am going to write a song about it... Thank you Amazon keep it up!!!5Fits snugly and tightly, pick holder is just okI got this for my electric guitar because the holes in my original strap quickly wore out and would come off while playing, yikes!Unlike my old strap, this one feels super strong and in fact it can be a little difficult to get on. Once on there is no concern about it coming off though and it fits very snugly. The holes are reinforced so it hasn't stretched at all over the months I've used it.The pick holder is a cool idea but the pocket isn't very snug so the pick will easily fall out if you put down the guitar and leave the strap to dangle. It's only useful to store the pick while you are wearing the strap. For the price and how well this fits the guitar, this is an excellent product. I bought a second one for my acoustic because I liked it so much.5
