Customer Reviews

The Joey Jordison ProjectHuge fan of Joey's drumming, and guitar work. I think this has been his best side project he's done to date. It sucks that he's not a part of Slipknot anymore but I hope to at least be hearing him in future Scar the Martyr albums5New JJ project proves worthyJoey Jordison is a very talented musician but I admit that I don't care for everything that he's done...Murder Dolls. His work in Slipknot goes without saying and this new project has proven to be just as worthy of praise. It's different than Slipknot, in a good way, and has a very solid tracklist. His picked some very good fellow musicians to join him and it shows that they have good chemistry. Both melodic and heavy parts are equally satisfying and the production is top-notch. I hope they keep it up, despite what the future holds for Slipknot.4Ok Metal ReleaseThis is an OK metal release from a band made famous by the involvement of Joey Jordinson. As I stated this album is OK, just not really anything special. Joey's other projects are much better/memorable in my opinion.3I don't want to put this album down, I just want to......comment about how I bought this album because of all the reviews that say how 'original', 'creative', experimental' and 'breath of fresh air' this album is. Now, while it is a great example of the genre, this album sounds like so many other Nu-Metal albums I own. In fact, while listening to this album, the thought going through my head is how I will file this away in my collection and likely never listen to it again, only because it does not stand out in any significant way.5This is a disc that most people will LOVE! Musically it delivers on all cylindersThis is a disc that most people will LOVE ! Musically it delivers on all cylinders. The production is exceptional as are the musicians who play on it. There was a time not very long ago that I would be stoked about this album, based on that I'd honestly have to give it FIVE STARS . However as I've grown older my mindset has changed. It's the MESSAGE that I don't particularly care much about. I am just PLAYED OUT on all this devil , Satanic crap. I am by no means a ' HOLY ROLLER ' I'm not trying to convince/convert/ or preach about anything to anyone. By that reasoning( and it's only my opinion ) this album doesn't offer anything new . I don't need anyone's help in getting to Hell . I'm doing one Hell of a job on my own. Pun intended. It offers NOTHING positive. In a world where nobody believes in anything and our children are killing each other I have to walk on this one . PEACE2Best Album I've bought in awhile! One of the best albums I've bought in awhile. There is a perfect mix of screaming and singing. Lots of catchy hooks and of course, Joey's drumming is thundering. I HIGHLY recommend this album.54 Stars for Scar The Martyr's DebutI'll just get right to it and say that with all this talent assembled, it would be hard for them NOT to put out at least a decent album... They have done that and it is better than decent, it is actually really good. I hear old Spineshank in these guys and that is refreshing to hear. They really cannot be categorized though except to say that is is genuine in your face, raw, heavy music. Joey Jordison wrote the music and played drums, bass, and rhythm guitar on here and he did a wonderful job. This band is much heavier and more enjoyable than Murderdolls too by the way. This is not a gimmick band, this is metal. The vocalist has pipes too and brings a really cool dynamic to this emerging band. It's just a great album that embraces the flaws and pushes through them with force. The flaws are few but the glaring one to me is that the songs are too long sometimes. They get a little monotonous at times and repetitive but it doesn't ruin the cd as a whole. One of the better debuts I have heard in a while and I hope we get a 2nd disc from them one day, only after another SLIPKNOT disc of course\m/4Powerful Music, every track has its own signature. If you like Slipknot you will love Scar The Martyr. Except Scar The Martyr's Henry Derek vocal is better and he can sing clean and growl when needed. This is a must have album!!5Just flat out awsome! This album could be album of the year! This album has it all, you just cant ask for more! From the first listen its just killer! All I can say is wow! The more you listen the better it gets. I cant wait to hear the four bonus tracks. I just hope this effort keeps moving forward because I far rather it over Slipknot. Just a epic album.5Moving forwardFor those of you who expect this to be Slipknot #2 don't bother...I originally heard the studio teasers posted on youtube and immediately caught my interest. I wasn't concerned about the music, but the fact of who would be singing to these songs. Vocals are always the make or break of a band for me. It doesn't matter how great the music is...if you have a bad vocalist the music suffers. With Henry I'm still on the fence. I wouldn't say he'd be my #1 pick, however that's not saying he's not a good vocalist, but not necessarily my style. I do feel Henry's voice fits Scar The Martyr's sound. I do like his screaming and the cleans are slowly growing on me.Now onto the music. The music is a bit more theatrical, dark and grungy (in my opinion). The keyboards add nice layering that I feel the music would be empty without.I would choose to give Scar the Marytr's debut 3.5 stars, but since that option is not available I'll give it an extra .5 up to 4 stars. If you're expecting a Slipknot replica you couldn't be further from the truth. For those of you criticizing Joey for leaving Slipknot...A.) we don't know the reason behind his departure yet B.) Joey is doing something musically that satisfies him and was simply not Slipknot material.I'm interested to see where Scar the Martyr goes from here. If this will be a full time, continuous project from Joey and how will their sound mature to a sophomore effort(?)!4
