Fabulous!!!There is a reason these are the most expensive signing videos and are still so popular -- they're fabulous!! Rachel Coleman is so talented, and these DVDs are created so thoughtfully. They are very fun and easy to watch, and the signs are very clearly demonstrated. There are many kids demonstrating each sign, and they are the most endearing little actors I've seen. The music is also very well done -- didn't realize until I looked it up that it really is Rachel singing -- wonderful. And that song "The Good" brought tears to my eyes -- who can't relate to the life experience she sings about? Didn't expect that sort of depth in a kids dvd. Anyway, these DVDs are absolutely worth the money. My 20 month old loved this dvd, but I think any age would enjoy it.Note: the editorial review on Amazon lists the wrong words for this DVD. The signs on volume 2 include: train, book, read, friend, play, my turn, your turn, please, thank you, socks, yes, no, thirsty, drink, dirty, clean, potty, wash hands, bath, hurt, sorry, stop, go, wait, grandma, grandpa.5Only signing dvds out thereWe Love Signing Time. My toddler has learned 70+ words thanks to these DVDs. I will say, it s frustrating to continue to buy these, when the DVDs constantly go over words they ve provided in the past instead of introducing brand new words.4My Son Loves TheseI bought these DVDs after a friend's 18 month old signed that she wanted to watch Signing Time so many times that we finally watched it. I was amazed to see how many signs she knew after just a month or two of watching the series. This has been great for our whole family, our son has learned a few signs and we have learned quite a few. We shared it with our extended family during the holidays and our nieces who range from pre-teen to elementary school enjoyed it.5Cathy from TexasAll I can say is THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE DVDS!!! They have saved my life. I have taught limited sign for years, but when my son, almost 2 years old, could hear but not talk, these DVDs saved my life to help me communicate with Kyle. I have passed on the name to SEVERAL others who I have found experiencing the same thing, and they are happy too. We sing the title song, "It's singing time with Alex and Leah", all the time and many of the songs. They are NOT annoying, like many kids DVDs, and Rachel is someone you wish you could know personally. I love that she has the stickers on her fingers in some DVDs, it is a major upgrade. These DVDs are a must have for the struggling parents with a child who doesn't talk when they should or the parent of a deaf child, especially, if they have hearing siblings, so they can communicate together!! I would pay a million dollars to help my son speak to me,and these DVDs have allowed me to speak, share, and let him know I LOVE him. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!5Signing Time! Volume 2What a great way for kids to learn sign language. My son is not hearing impaired, but a friend gave me Volume 1 after I shared with her the frustration my son and I shared with not being able to communicate effectively with one another. After watching the first volume a couple of times, he picked up signs that were very helpful to him in sharing with me what he was trying to say. Now he's preschool age and talking, but he still likes to combine signs with verbal communication. We have volumes 1-3 and I intend to buy more. The price is very reasonable given the results I've seen. They're entertaining; the songs are catchy; and Rachel, Leah and Alex are very engaging. Before watching these with my son, I knew one or two signs. Now I know many and they have helped spur my sons interest in communication.I highly recommend the Signing Time! DVDS for anyone, any age.5Signing Time! Vol. 2I bought Playtime Signs for my 2 year old for her birthday. She is speech delayed and I thought it might help her feel less frustrated to get some more "words" in her vocabulary. The first time we watched it, she didn't want to try any of the signs. Frankly, she seemed kind of scared of the whole idea. But her big sister's enthusiasm was contageous. Soon, my 2 year-old wanted to try some signs too. Now she's actually starting to copy the signs from the video. I would suggest having an adult or older sibling watch the video with smaller children and emulate the signs for them. The production quality is very simple, but outstanding. The pace is not obnoxiously fast or insulting to my child's intelligence -- something that seems hard to find in kids' videos these days. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this video to anyone. My only complaint is that I think the videos are a little expensive, considering it's only a 20 minute program. I don't know if I'd buy another one before looking at the local library first. The signs on volume 2 include: train, book, read, friend, play, my turn, your turn, please, thank you, socks, yes, no, thirsty, drink, dirty, clean, potty, wash hands, bath, hurt, sorry, stop, go, wait, grandma, grandpa.4Entertaining and EducationalAs the mother of twins, one hearing and one deaf, I have had the opportunity to check out many programs for teaching ASL to small children. This is by far the best series out there. Most other products are so boring that parents must struggle to stay awake during the production, and there is no way a toddler would tolerate a viewing. My 2-year-old twins request Signing Time all of the time. At home they want the DVDs playing almost constantly. In the car my hearing daughter starts asking for the Signing Time CD before I even have her strapped into her carseat. My 2-year-old deaf daughter is using 5-sign sentences, which is almost unheard of for the deaf child of hearing parents. My extended family owns a total of 6 sets of Signing Time. Whenever my daughters' cousins have a birthday they ask for the latest Signing Time DVDs. Children of all ages love this product.5Even better than the firstA month ago when my son was 14 months old, he shocked me when he really communicated with me. Sure he could let me know when he wanted milk, or when he wanted to read a book or take a bath but for the first time he had to communicate something bigger. So he kept nagging at me one day and I finally said, "What is it, buddy? What do you want?" At that moment, he made the sign for car along with the sound a car makes and I knew. He wanted to play in the driver's seat of the car. So I let him do just that.He learned car from volume 1 so I decided to go ahead and get volume 2. So happy I did because he's picking these signs up so much faster. After watching it maybe 5 times, he's already doing several new signs including Please and Thank you. Everything about the video is great, the songs, the demonstration of the signs, etc. I highly recommend this series to any parents considering teaching their little ones signing.5Loved by 4yo & 1yoI have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and we all love these videos. I've been renting them through our Prime membership to test them out before actually buying the DVDs and we've been having so much fun. When my 4 year old was the baby we did signing with him, but I didn't know about these videos so I was just doing everything with a book and an ASL dictionary. I learned about these from a group of friends I made while pregnant with my daughter (now my 1 year old) and I figured that we would try them out if we could. I couldn't have imagined how much more quickly we would all pick up new signs! I know some reviewers for the actual DVDs have complained about the quality of the video or that their children didn't seem interested in these, but I think renting them is a great way to test these out. I acknowledge that what one kid/family likes may not be what another kid/family likes, but you just don't know till you try it out. Both my kids love the songs; my 1 yo squeals and dances when they come on and my 4 yo sings the songs throughout the day. I think it worthwhile to mention that I usually sit down for Signing Time with my kids and it's part of our daily routine now. Sitting with them to experience the videos with them ensures that I learn the signs with them and I think it holds their attention longer since we are interacting while watching the videos. If you're skeptical or wary because of other negative reviews my advice would be to rent them and see what you and your kids think. Signing Time is one of the funnest things we do every day.5Wonderful and more than just playtime signsI thought volume 1 was great, but this one is fantastic! I really appreciate all of the different kids they have signing and the music is delightful. This DVD has way more than just playtime signs. It includes stop, go, hurt, sorry, grandma, grandpa, etc. These are just what I was looking for! My little one loves watching this over and over again. I highly suggest it for home viewing as well as for travel. Many a tantrum has been deflated due to Rachel. She's practically a celebrity in our house.5
