Even better movie in 3DExcellent 3D Bluray. All of these movies should have been made in 3D. I had bought the 4K set with the Divergent Series included. I then purchased this movie because it was a bargain on 3D Bluray. Well, this movie was made fantastic in 3D with items and debris flying through the air right at you. It help give scenes so much more depth that makes you feel like you actually a part of the action. Item was just as described by the Seller + fast shipping. Seller's Grade: A+5Quick and Full of Action! So I need to start off by saying that unless it's Star Wars or something equally epic (I hate that overused term, but here it truly does apply) I hate sequels. Not all, mind you, but in general. To me, things just don't tend to be all that great the second time around. In this case, however, I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only was it full of action (some of the dream sequences are incredible), but the storyline was quick and held my interest. I hate when things get slow or drawn out to fill the length of a film or worse yet, to set up the next movie. That certainly was not the case here. I have heard a lot of comparisons to Hunger Games and I did find there to be some similarities in the plot, but the Divergent Series was executed much better IMO. The third Hunger Games movie was a snooze fest! I am excited to review the third installment of this series. For now all I can say is that they nailed #2.5For popcorn action sci-fi, this is pretty goodThis isn't a particularly deep movie - if you're looking for The Matrix or Inception, you'll be disappointed. But it's a nice futuristic action movie. The premise is a bit forced, but certainly not as bad as recent movies such as Elysium. The acting is good - not too forced, even though the "young adult" style source material is a bit simplistic. You'll root for the protagonists. Kate Winslet leads an above average cast. I'm not a big fan of Ashley Judd, but she does a good job here. The effects are first rate. Nothing ground-breaking, but acceptable and they don't get in the way of the story.Bottom line is that I'm hard to please on movies, but this one is good enough that I bought the sequel.4Good story line from start to finishI am a woman and I love all types of action, suspense, thrillers and psychological types of movies. But regardless if it's a teen, young adult or whatever, I LOVE STRONG INDEPENDENT ACTION PACKED MOVIES WITG WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER WHO IS A FEMALE!!!! Especially where they can sling a weapon or whoop azz with their clothes on lol but I love the Divergent series along with Hunger games5action and tenderness.... and braveryI think Shailene Woodley is a young actress to watch.. Theo.. (absolutely intensely watchable)... I don't know why people think "Meh" or "only watch it if you are so terminably bored, anything would entertain you"... Most reviewers on Amazon really do a good job; I count on those reviews when I purchase ANYTHING from Amazon PERIOD. "BORING, and MEH" are not helpful...First, the Divergent series was not knock off of Hunger Games. It is much different, truly a different idea of dystopian bleakness and dishonesty... These books and films should appeal to young people, because it could be that generation which finds itself in this spot... (I pray not, but obviouly some very good writers are considering the possibility)I wish I had made the time to see this in theatre.... but the intial reviews were poor, so I waited. It is interesting that the Blu-rays and dvds always get better reviews. It is a product of our short attention span society... if it's not blam wham thank you ma'm and an EXPLOSION.. it's not good enough... This movie was definitely good enough. Sure there was angst, cruelty, and tears, but the acting was superb, considering how much was on green screen. It is a pleasure to watch Beatrice evolving into Tris.... She absolutely carries the theme which Veronica Roth kept repeating... "Be Brave"... it takes all of the factions, but first and foremost selflessness and dauntless to BE BRAVE,,, Let's all work on being BRAVE and not Bored...\5Becoming a fan of this series.I enjoyed the movie, using my internal gauge that the movie ended in what seemed like too soon. This means that the emotional content, the cinematography, character development and plot lines moved forward at acceptable rates and the viewer was not jarred out of suspended disbelief by technical issues. If one has read the books, there is a disconnect in that the movie storyline evolves differently than the book series storylines. For example, we don't see Edward included in the storylines and an execution of a supporting character is performed by a person different than the person who performed the same action in the books. The final scene also seems at odds with the way the message was revealed in the books and how people in the city responded to the message. Lastly, the books tend to have a large amount of internal "thought discourse" which is very complicated to execute in a movie (first person / third person point-of-view dichotomy). All-in-all an enjoyable watch. I think that the moral tone of the movie remains consistent with the books and the teaching points in the books seem to have been translated well into the movie.4This was a genuinely bad movie.I am in my 30s but have read the young adult series for Divergent. While the movie for Divergent was worth a watch (on a plane), I do not recommend this movie. The lead character (Tris) is played by Shailene Woodley with mediocre acting, who does not show any standout qualities that would make her believable as a "Divergent". The plot line is also flawed in several places, and leaves the viewer in disbelief at the end of the film. Disbelief of the plot, of course, but also that two hours of life have been spent watching such a poor movie. Also, for those of you who, just like me, hate "dream sequences" this movie is rife with them. They call them 'sims' or simulations - but it really just drags the movie on without much point.2Excellent continuation of part oneInsurgent is part two of the Divergent Series. It starts off probably just a couple of months later, as certain injuries from the first movie are still present in the second. Special effects are outstanding and art one point I was just in awe of how they could have managed the scene. Acting is spot on and the characters are brought back in acceptable fashion. There is no part of this movie that we felt "Well this part could have been left out..." The action is fairly close to non-stop and I even found myself leaning forward in anticipation once or twice. Excellent ending finishes the movie and makes me wonder how part three will unfold. Bravo, indeed.5Greatly disappointing following a mildly enjoyable DivergentMy wife and I enjoyed the first in the series enough to be interested in Insurgent. Understanding it's a teen movie that is largely unoriginal, the fact we were able to suspend reality for two hours of enjoyment the first time around led us to think it could happen again. It couldn't happen again. We did not finish the movie-I think we made it about forty five minutes in. The frequent dream/hallucination sequences, ridiculously immature romance and over-the-top emotional sequences were more than we could take. If you enjoyed Divergent, awesome! Leave it at that and also leave it to your imagination what happens when that movie ends, because whatever you come up with will no doubt be far better than what Insurgent forces upon you.1Top notch action, story, and acting.I was just expecting some mindless sci-fi action, but I must say that we really enjoyed it. It was easy enough to get an idea of who's who and what their underlying motivations might be. It was story driven and the acting was strong from the entire cast. The characters were developed enough to care about their story. And the action wasn't so completely unbelievable, so you could always feel the sense of vulnerability.Possible spoiler: Stop here if you don't want a hint. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that with all the high tech advanced society, not to mention the strong, brave characters, why didn't someone look over the wall, or send a drone to investigate, or burst through the wall with a small contingent. But that question doesn't really become obvious until the end.But it is good action, good effects, good story and good acting. Recommended!4
