Product Description Product Description
The Graduate is an album of songs from the soundtrack of Mike Nichols' movie The Graduate, featuring many songs from the folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel as well as several instrumental pieces by Dave Grusin. Released on January 21, 1968, the album was produced by Teo Macero. Although the album features two versions of the acclaimed "Mrs. Robinson", neither is the full version as featured on Bookends. The first is an instrumental, while the second is abbreviated, tapering off as it does in the film. However, the other major song of the album, "The Sound of Silence" is used three times in the film.

Sound just awful!!The quality of sound is awful, sounds like it was recorded on pier with a ocean liner driving by blowing its horn , a couple of the other songs sound like background music from the Wizard of Oz! Save your money! I don't think I would even give it to Goodwill!1Great music of two performers. No special comments. I enjoyed the movie.5DisappointedI bought this a few years back during the launch of everything blu....blu ray, blu spec, blu toothe, and of course the blue pill! Doing a review today seems pointless. If the blu spec discs were any good, all labels would have adopted the technology. When compared with the regular CD, it renders a little more bass and hi. But the mids are just as gritty and unpleasant. Contrary to what and how it was hyped, it is nowhere near the vinyl.2AOK.AOK.5No Mrs. RobinsonAwesome soundtrack. The LP came in amazing shape for the age. Only downside to this album is, don't expect the full version of Mrs. Robinson because you will be very disappointed. It's more of an instrumental. The sound of silence on here is very nice and the other tracks are a nice change from my usual music.5A Taste of Two WorldsBefore you buy this, listen to the samples first. In an echo of previous reviews, I agree that this is not a comprehensive Simon and Garfunkel album, nor is it meant to be. This is a collection of contrasts, an example of the Generation Gap as represented through the eyes of Benjamin Braddock. In the musical juxstaposition of youth and middle age, modernism and antiquity, we experience the '60's just before the "Age of Aquarius" and psychedelia. This is a wonderfully novel album, good for cocktail parties and conversation; a blast from the past, if you will. If lounge music is your bag, invest in this classic. It is pretty groovy in that makes unhipness hip, in a very retro sort of way. It inspires me to put on my mini skirt and get out the martini shaker. It is great to put in a shuffle mix with some Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and a S&G disc like "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, & Thyme". Talk about a taste of two worlds...Enjoy.5Folks of a certain age...Who wouldn't love this album? The movie was a pivotal point in my teenage development, and I've listened to the vinyl album since 1968, I'd say. Had to order a CD for the car, and love it just as much as the original. If you loved the movie, you'll need the album.5Produced, edited and spliced together by Teo MaceroSimon & Garfunkel and Dave Grusin recorded a number of tracks for the movie soundtrack in 1967, but nothing coherent or useable. The Columbia Records Hollywood Crew were unable to assemble this material into a soundtrack album and the movie was about to be released. Columbia needed a soundtrack album fast. Columbia Records President called Jazz producer Teo Macero, who was not familiar with this project, into his office and told him that he had four days to assemble a soundtrack album for release with the movie. Mr. Macero saw the assembled movie and listened to the tracks, but didn t hear an album in that material either. He obtained Simon & Garfunkel s other albums and combined that material with the new material via splicing and overdubbing and made this soundtrack album in 4 days as requested. In all honestly, this album does sound like it was put together with a razor blade and splicing tape. However it did sell well. After this soundtrack was made, Simon & Garfunkel went back to the studio and re-recorded their songs along the lines of Mr. Macero s edited version. Those re-recorded versions sound much better than the versions in this soundtrack album and are the versions that became famous. Simon & Garfunkel never acknowledged Mr. Macero s efforts in producing two of their greatest hits. Anyway, the versions of the songs in this album are probably not the versions that you are familiar with.2Only a couple of songs were worth listening toSome of the songs were awful1DVDThis movie dates me, but it's still enjoyable to watch and to hear the music associated with it.4
