My top choice for 7A sticks!I've been drumming for almost 40 years, and I've played a variety of music from hard rock, country, funk, R&B, to even some Latin jazz. My regular stick preference would be a 5A in wood tip. I used to prefer nylon, but the tips kept coming off and I like the dryer more natural sound of wood on the ride cymbal. I use almost exclusively wood tips now. But, the reason I love these sticks is the incredible response and tone I get from the rounded tips. My current band is playing softer 60's rock and R&B and these are perfect for smaller situations. For bigger venues I might still use a 5A for more volume, but for softer stuff these are my choice. I am also impressed with the durability, they seem to hold up better than many other sticks I've tried. Highly recommend, I've ordered several pairs and will continue to buy them.5Very Nice Sticks!I've always been a fan of jazz sticks, even for rock. I just like the speed and balance I get from them. I bought a gross of Zildjian Jazz sticks and now that they are all gone, I wanted to try something new. What you may not know about these sticks is that they are computer tone matched. They are Manhattan 7A's hickory with nylon tips. A full 16" length and 0.540 diameter with very tapered shoulder makes it easier to avoid those accidental rim shots. These sticks are naked - no finish but very well sanded. They are also very straight. In fact, perfect. Good price + good stick = great value!5Broke just below the tip after an hour - No more Vater SticksI've been a professional musician since 1980 and I've been playing with 5B sticks almost exclusively unless I'm playing a small room and have to be concerned about over powering the rest of the band. I bought several pairs of 7A sticks for a few upcoming shows that don't call for bombastic hitting. Apparently, you can break these sticks at a jazz gig. Wasn't hitting very hard, playing traditional grip and these sticks didn't even last to the end of the first set. No more Vater sticks. I finished the gig with a pair of ProMark 7A Rebounds. I've done two more gigs with the same ProMark sticks and both were rock gigs. Come on Vater, you can do better. Really disappointed.1Length and bead worried me, they shouldn t haveVater makes great sticks. I needed a lower volume option than playing soft with the sticks currently in my bag and these worked great. I was a little bugged out by the overall length and bead shape, but those concerns immediately dissipated on downbeat.5great stickI used to play a lot of rock, well thru the decades my taste changes and so did my choice of stick. I think Buddy Rich would have loved this stick. It has a good balanced weight. You can play many different styles with this pair of 7a nylon tip. I love the cymbal definition. I have very good control and less fatigue on the hands and fingers. I do use other sticks, but this is one in my tool bag. Give em a try. Rob.5Good sticks, but I'll admit I'm not an expertI bought 2 pairs of these to avoid having to drive to town while I was waiting for my Alesis DM-5 kit to arrive. These are the same weight and type of sticks I used when I had an acoustic set of Premier drums 30 years ago.My drumming chops are way down, but I can tell you that the sticks are straight, balanced, and they feel great, even though I think most drummers would prefer something a bit heavier and probably lose the plastic tips for electronic drums.I bought 2 sets of them and the price was right. If I break one or wear them out (more likely with those Surge cymbals) I will order some more.If you like a lighter stick with a plastic tip, give these a try. I think you'll like them.5Best sticks out there.I play technical death metal. So its alot of very fast hqrd hitting stuff and these sticks perform perfect. They have a perfect weight and balance to them. And they are soooo durable. These sticks last me a long time. We have practice every day and shows every weekend and I go through maybe a pair every 2 months. Way longer than any stick I've ever used. I'm sure these would be amazing in all genres of music. I definitely recommend these sticks.5Fragile sticks! Stay away!!Broke within minutes after unpacking, I kid you not. I've bought 3 pair of these and everyone of them break at lightning speeds. I honestly don't understand why people talk about this company and their sticks!!1DealFeel short but great deal4A little lighter and a little longer for a 7AI love these! I've used many brands' 7As, but these are my favorite. I love the additional length (most 7As are 15.5", but these are 16") and the wood is just slightly lighter than a couple other major brands' wood. I'm often loooking for less volume so this works for me.I use the wood tip on acoustic drums and nylon on my electronic setup, since my Gen16 perforated cymbals eat wood tips like a cheese grater. Both stick models are excellent. My ONE complaint, and it's very minor- I don't like the flat butt end on Vater sticks. When I'm occasionally holding them way out on the end, there's a noticeable sharp edge where it's cut flat. I prefer the fully rounded butt end most stick companies produce. But it's a minor gripe.5
