Worth every centBy now you know what the game is, you know what the new features are, and you know if it is for you or not. Seeing that Amazon still has these in stock, the only question is regular or collector's edition? For me, the big draw is the art book. Blizzard have some of (if not THE) best video game artists in the industry. They never cease to amaze me with the art they come up with. While the game has a primitive, almost cartoony feel to it by 2013's standards, the art is still really good. Seeing the art from concept to reality is amazing. The in-game stuff isn't a huge deal. By now everyone should have a collection of flavor items such as mounts and pets, so there isn't a huge draw for the mount and pet that come with this. I do use the panda decals in StarCraft 2 but that's about it.Bottom line: if you like looking at pretty pictures, buy the CE for the art book. If you could care less, but the regular edition.5Fun at firstAfter playing since beta, I did stop playing about 4 months after Mists of Pandaria was released.I don't know if this was merely 'growing up and out' of MMOs, or perhaps the fact that after that period of time, as a casual player, it became repetitive and unexciting. Now, I can really go far in repeating tasks over and over - I would rather level a new druid to 80 and delete it constantly... than play any more 'end game' MoP.I did all the daily grinds, got all the shiny mounts, killed the not so rare 'rares', got random s***, ran out of bag space, had many pets, got achievements, farmed until I was blue in the face, had pandarens, played a monk... And yeah, it entertained me for awhile. Worth the cost? Maybe not. I probably should've just gone for normal - but hey, I did grant a friends wish by giving her the art book for her birthday, so that's a plus.I'm not sure if any game can ever live up to the legacy of WoW, especially the illusion we've all built up in our minds on how full of glory vanilla and Burning Crusade were... But, I think WoW is climbing it's end. I ended my subscription awhile ago, and although it still runs for a few more months due to paying 6 months in advance... I just don't think I'll be coming back this time. I don't even think of it.I have friends who play still, but this just seems boring to me. I'll miss the friends and the community aspect, that's all.If you've never played WoW, it's worth a try. Get a starter, pay maybe 50$ when you get everything on sale and play til you're 90. You'll like it, it's got maybe a year of fun for a casual player - and if you find a good guild (and no shame in leaving one if they're not) maybe longer. And for that, it's worth it. I wouldn't recommend the CE though =p3Best expansion pack yetIn some ways this expansion brings WoW back full circle to a game which is less alt-friendly but which offers much more potential expansion for your main character. The box and contents are the usual high quality and the in-game pet is nice. Pandaria itself is beautifully rendered, with a rich lore and backstory. The Pandarian Panda people have been part of Warcraft since Warcraft III (long before the movie "Kung Fu Panda"). Unlike other Blizzard games, World of Warcraft is not filled with foul language and gratuitous gore. However, children should not play this game unsupervised. This is an online game and, despite Blizzard's best attempts to weed them out, you can encounter predatory personalities in-game. For older adults who prefer to play without the intrusion of juvenile drama and potty-mouths, there are plenty of guilds and forums that cater to your needs. (Most of us just turn trade chat off.) Pandaria is a rich and interesting world well worth exploring.5My Partner Loves It - I Am On The Fence (AMAZON IS THE BEST!)I purchased the 'The World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Collector's Edition' as a Christmas gift for my partner and he loves-loves-loves it! Did I get across how much he loves it? The product was packaged well and was received on time. The product has no material defects and plays as it was meant to play, but common, it is a game! For the most part the game keeps him happy. I think that is great, but when life gets delayed, because he has to finish a 'Quest' that is where I draw the line - that is why I am on the fence. Again, since I have not played the game I cannot give any additional feedback.AMAZON IS THE BEST!When I originally purchased this Christmas gift on December 17th (along with another gift), they were delivered on time - but were stolen! I reported the robbery to the police, because that is what you are supposed to do. I, myself, put this matter at the bottom of the polices priorities. Then, I called AMAZON and explained the situation. AMAZON was very understanding and replaced this gift and the other, at no additional cost to me! They were both delivered in time for the holiday! I, of course, give AMAZON a huge THANK YOU for the amazing customer service I received!5Shipping was not as quick as I had hoped......especially since I had done the pre-order and such to make sure I got it ASAP. It's been a few months, but I seem to remember that it got to me 2-3 days after the expansion went live. While it initially annoyed me, especially since I had to listen over Vent to my guildies oh! and ah! over Pandaria and all the quests, blah blah blah, I took the time to weed through all my companion pets, dump them on the AH (and at least on my server, I was the first to do so and ended up selling nearly everything), and wander around taking care of old business. I don't remember now if the pet battle system required MoP or not, but I don't think it did because I remember running around the lake in Stormwind battling all the rabbits and squirrels for several hours, racking up some achievements in the process. FYI, this expansion is especially grindy when it comes to dailies and while I like dailies, I'm still overwhelmed by the amount needed to do *every day* just to get where you need to be...and it's worse for me right now because I'm working on 3 toons! Craziness. The bonuses in the CE are pretty and are exactly what I expected...and I got the CE because I got the CE for Cata and I regret not getting all of the other CEs! So yeah, spendy, but I like the pretty bonuses.5So much to do!World of Warcraft had over 11 million subscribers at one time...maybe over 12 million or 13 million or 15 million or oh wait the game has so much to do in it! Things have gotten easy to accomplish and everything seems like it has a spend time be rewarded game. Picking a flower for Herbalism skill gives you leveling experience now! World of Warcraft is still worth 15 bucks a month no matter what anyone says.Mists of Pandaria is an ok expansion. A new Panda type race makes it all worth while. The art is mythical/Oriental based, spirit of this, spirit of that, "may the wind bless your fine hair and let it float around your jewel like face!" thee's and thoughs but oriental flavored.. Quite lovely color and environment design (very few getting stuck spots, etc.) What makes it not worthwhile is a leveling path that is too fast. You literally outgrow dungeon levels by taking a step with your character! You level fast...did I say fast?5I just got it b/c......I just got this b/c it was cheap and I wanted to have all the collector's box's.This was a good game but if ur a person that does not like to do homework after u get done with a LONG day of work or kids with really no life telling u that ur this bad thing or that, spending all ur free time on a game just to get this item to get this item to get that item just to get to this item then don't play this game.If u want a game where u can just get on play and have fun this game may not be for u.I started out liking this game but soon came to not like it so much mostly b/c of the people in it.I was a good player to and not a boon but seeing as I did not have the latest items , have all the time in the world or did not know right away what to do in this place or that I was no good and who r the pp that told me this y the very pp that play all day every day and have nothing better to do with their lives than make others feel bad for not knowing something they only need to see one time to learn. If u don't feel this way then great I'm happy for u but I just did not like this game after a while that's just me.It was a great game when it started out but then it was all about gear and nothing else.3The MMO I keep playingThere hasn't been an MMO in my experience that has captured my interest and kept me playing (and coming back!) as much and as often as World of Warcraft. The latest expansion (as of this writing) Mists of Pandaria is no exception. With its new territory, new content, new class (Monk), new level cap and new race (Pandaren) that is open to either faction playing it, this expansion has really built on the previous game considerably. The technical details of what all this expansion contains are found on the Blizzard website as well as fan websites and therefore easy to discover on the Internet and I assume probably well known by a shopper who has found this page by now. For this reason, I've elected to skip the rest of the breakdown and return to personal notes and recommendations. The Pandaren race and Monk class both are fun to play, and since they are open to either faction, makes this expansion attractive to players of nearly any degree of maturity in game from those with level 85 characters wishing to advance to 90th to those perhaps interested in re-starting at level 1 again with a new race and class (which can and may still include those who do own level 85 characters). These are the first really roly-poly characters in game, and from their in-game comments, proud of it. Humor is definitely well infused into these new characters in terms of their voice overs, actions, and even cinematics.Mists of Pandaria has a new questline for learning flight in their territory at level 90, a requisite skill that also optionally allows you to gain your own free "Jade Serpent" style flying dragon mount. The questline is somewhat tedious, but nothing like the Netherwing questline for those who understand the reference. All in all, I definitely recommend the expansion. There's plenty of entertainment in there for the asking price.5Well, It beats CataWell, I started playing World of Warcraft in the last couple patches of The Burning Crusade, so I know nothing of the Vanilla hey day (which actually in a lot of ways sounds like way to much work to me, all the stories my "in from launch" friends tell me), but I loved Wrath of the Lich King like I've loved few things (The Girlfriend, Family members and Employers I've ignored will attest to that I would probably have rated it third best gaming Experience ever, right after A Link to the Past, which in turn is only beaten by the Mass Effect Series) I was disappointed in Cataclysm and most WoW players I know quit playing during Cataclysm as well, to many game play changes, horrid characters like Garrosh Hellscream taking center stage, WAY to many pop culture references etc... That said a friend got me to start playing Mist of Pandaria a few weeks ago, and I haven't put it down. It's no where near as good as Wrath of the Lich King, I'll be honest, but Class Balance feels great so far. I will say I hit level cap awfully quickly, but there's an awful lot to do even at level cap this time so... yeah if you left because of Cata, I'd recommend giving Mist at least a try.As far as the Collector's edition, this one wasn't overly spectacular, save for the art Book, as I'd be willing to bet you could find the soundtrack elsewhere, and the pet and mount come with the Digital Deluxe, and no trading cards this time.3Brief review of MoP.I both love and hate this new expansion, as many others have likely also felt.Things I love:The pet battling system is cool. Pet collection and leveling is very easy to get into, and capturing wild pets offers instant rewards to the long-time pet collectors out there. Though it's a pretty blatant rip of Pokemon, that doesn't bother me. The Monk class is a great addition to the game, though I've yet to play one, I love the aesthetic and the specializations of them. very cool to have Brewmasters finally a thing in the game. Pandaria is a beautiful, wild and dangerous place. Exploring the world, finding and killing all the rare spawning enemies and collecting the unique and rare items across the continent was my absolute favorite thing about this expansion. I took my time leveling, to run around and explore every nook and cranny of this world. The cloud serpents are badass, and the way in which you obtain them is cool. The talent and specialization systems are the best they've ever been, in my opinion. The variety of content at your fingertips is astounding, there's always something to do, and you can always stop something and pick it up later, because you want to do something else. The Bad.In a nutshell, dailies. There are many, many new reps which each require their own set of dailies to grind if you desire them. In addition to standard reps, are individual reps which require their own farming and grind to get to "best friend". Dailies as a concept have always flustered me, but the last few years have been more of the same with them. This expac is nothing new in that department, they've just dived in full-tilt and It would have been nice to scale back the amount of dailies, or find a better system of earning reputation and spending your time. I hate that there is a farmville mini-game, yet I find myself hopelessly addicted to it. It's also really the only manageable way to level all SIX of the new cooking masteries. I feel like professions were for the most part glossed over, with very little new stuff to enjoy. They need an overhaul. LFR makes it possible for casual players to see the raid content and perhaps get some shiney epics, but it is populated by some of the worst players out there. It ends up often being very difficult because of people constantly dumping out of runs, or screwing up in huge ways. The flow of money is only slightly higher than in Cata, yet the costs of things rose very drastically. In conclusion, there's good and bad. It's not perfect, but it's fun. It's never going to go FTP, but the subscription is draining. Would be nice to at least have a FTP model, even if it was severely limiting. (Not just the 1-20 for free model they have now)5
